Cyberfish
Forget about more stadiums for stick n ball sports What we really need is a nascar cup track! What type of track would you all like to see it patterned after? I would prefer it to be like Richmond or Darlington. Not another "cookie cutter" track like chicago or Kansas... ------------------simul iustus et peccator ><}}}}("< ---><!>
anyfishwilldo
I agree. I could care less if the Twins or the Queens get a new stadium. I want NASCAR. A short track with very high banks and full stadium seating. I am going all the way to Indiana for the brickyard in 3 weeks. If anyone is interested, I have an extra ticket.[This message has been edited by anyfishwilldo (edited 07-10-2004).]
Joe Harty
Very good points !Things will have to shake out more with the stadium stuff before anyone could even start to present any type of bill for a track. I think it would be an awesome option for all of us to be able to go watch those guys race really close to home. I say make it a superspeedway that would be a cross between Daytona, Talladega, and Michigan. I think if the Vikes go to the Blaine area for a possible stadium site, with all the land out that way, there might be room for a track. I can see the F-16 Flyover right now !! woodyjdh
I have long thought Minnesota should have a track. But due to the noise, it would have to be out of any city. I mean, can you imagine the complaining if we had a track anywhere near the cities? There is enough of it with the airport. So, I propose a site out of the cities, out of the burbs. Yet still somewhat centrally located, off of an interstate. Maybe somewhere north of the cities, near St. Cloud. There are tons of college kids that could work there, interstate is cloeby, centrally located. Only an hour or so drive from the cities. Plenty of farmland to plant this sucker on! There is many hotels/motels in the area, as well as restaurants. In case you are wondering, no I don't live in St. Cloud, just thought someplace near it would be best. Out of the way, yet not in the sticks. My yard is only an acre, otherwise I'd suggest it here.
Bill-E-Bazz
The sooner the better. we've got plenty of room in mn for a track of any size. We already know that it would pay for itself in a few years with nascar growing so fast. Sounds like a GREAT IDEA!!Good Fishing'...
rich4walleyes
I know from a very good source that the Indians at a near by casino are in the process of talking to NASCAR about a track here in Minnesota. The hang up right now is that NASCAR is saying build the track and then we will consider giving you a race while the tribe is saying give us the race and we will build it. The thing is if the tribe builds it, they do not have to get any approval from any city or county. They can just go ahead and do it.
jt24
It would be awesome if they would have track in minnesota but i dont think they will come this far north? Sounds like the next track will be out east around new york and then possibly out west in washington or oregon. Nascar knows that the midwest is a good area because chicago has been sold out every year but coming here would be a long shot but not totally impossible. We can all hope anyways! Guest
Great idea, I learned years ago that there was an indy type race track in the citys. I think it was one of the small airports. This must have been a long time ago. I dont know if they raced. After the long winter and the freezing temps the track didnt hold up.
Cyberfish
Hmm, the climate could present problems, I remember how cracked up the state fair track was! nascar and potholes dont go to well together as Gordon found out this spring at Martinsville hehe ------------------simul iustus et peccator ><}}}}("< ---><!>

korn_fish
Don't expect to see a race here in MN any time soon. Having venues as close as Chicago, MN, and Indiana presents an issue. Nascar is trying to spread tracks out so expect a track in Colorado way before it will ever happen in MN. And with Seattle and NY getting a future track, it's even more unlikely. there is only so many weekends in a year to race. I have been going to Chicago every year. Chicago will be adding stadiom seats on the back stretch this fall. It would be great to have a track here in MN, but I am not going to get my hopes up.If the tribe puts one up, and they do get a race, I will still drive out of state to Chicago.
