Here are some pretty cute pics.
Here is the story I got with it:

A lady found the fawn under her step (they think the doe might have been hit by a car) ... her Ridge Back dog is helping look after it.

The family named the fawn Bella. Once she has regained her strength (she was not in good shape when the family found her) they are going to send her to some friends who (in the past) raised two orphan deer and released them to the wild. Right now she is being bottle fed. Their dog (Hogan) has basically taken over. The fawn even shares his bed.

Great pics BLB. I have to warn you though...if I read things right, all orpaned fawns are to be destroyed in this state this year due to CWD concerns. I would go take a look at the DNR websight. I really don't agree with it but that is what I read (I think). You might want to give the owner of the fawn a heads up on this before they get in trouble!

I know someone who has one to, I gave her the low-down on what the DNR thinks so that she could decide on what to do. She kept it. They sure are cute. My cousin had one once that he raised to about two years old. It was a doe who really loved oreo cookies. Just like a dog, she like to be scratched behind the ears and everything. One day it up and left and never came back....I wonder if I wound up eating her?

Had a fawn buck near my mothers house that was tame. Could pet him, play w/him, neighbors told me he loved oreo cookies. For a couple yrs he was around and we had fun w/him, by his second yr. he had horns and would like to play a little too rough for my daughter but I'd still play w/him. Have video tapes and pics for fond memories. BTW he was shot during bow season evidently a guy was bow hunting shot at him and missed on the way back to his truck the deer ran another 25yds closer to him and he didn't miss. That is what his best friend told me and he even bragged about getting a buck. Why then didn't he also mention the fact that b4 gutting the deer out he had to cut the red vest off of him THAT I TIED ON HIM. I did that so people would relize this is a tame deer although no one ever penned him up. he would readily walk up to people. Just glad to know that the local word got around about what this guy did. It would probably ended up getting agresive enough that someone would've killed it self defense. That would have been the next yr or two, it was not afraid of people as he thaught they were his friends, but he liked to play w/us

Cute little bugger.

But personally I'd never keep one at home. Wouldn't want it to get accustomed to humans. Not safe for it or for us. There are usually a few animal rescue farms around. I'd likely look there as they have the proper training and resources for getting them back nto the wild.

Statistic show more people are mauled and/or killed by deer than bears. When the rut rolls around those bucks are unpredicatable and dangerous. These animals are not meant to be kept as pets.

Be careful.

I'd have to see that to believe it.

My uncle found a fawn along side a road last year next to it's dead mother who was apparantly struck by a car, anyway, he brought it home to his farm and built a large pen outside for it and everything, it took awhile for it to start eating, but he would bottle feed it everyday and eventually started feedind it alfalfa, anyway, about a month later the DNR shows up and confiscated the thing, not sure what they did with it after that, probably released it into the wild. I know they weren't too happy about him having it.
