JohnMickish
What is your favorite panfish plastic bait to use this year? So many choices so what do you like?
bobbymalone
I've been using lil atom nuggies or similar stuff on a variety of gill pill, mud bug, and marmooska type jigs for crappie and have done well. It's been go to for a couple years now. For gills, I don't think anything beats a ratso. Maybe a ratso with a maggot on it. I'm not a purist
Coryy
I have fallen in love with the Clam Maki Plastics. My favorite one has been the Polli. You can't beat the action and they are very easy to hook when you have cold hands.
drcarplove
My best luck has been with ratsos for gills and crappie. They bite and often just hang on. Frank
Scott O.
So far this year, I've used the Maki plastic on a few occasions with success and I've also used the VersaMite made by J and S Custom Jigs with some success as well. Not totally sold on using them all the time, but they are moving up in the "use them" category for sure.
amateurfishing
yes, but if it is not tipped with waxie, does not matter what it is it will not get touched. crappie minnows to fatheads and plastics get zero bites but lookers, anything with waxies tipped get northerns, crappies, gills, sunnies, you name it. So weird on my backyard lake this year
borg0196
The bro bloodworms have worked for me every trip so far this year!
Corey Bechtold
Maki Plastics. They are very soft and have incredible action! Northland Impulse Tapeworms. Been a good one for me for the last few years. Berkley Gulp! Alive! 1" Minnows, Waxies, Fish Fry. A great year round weapon! Little Atom Wedgees/Jumbo Wedgees. Proven. I've tried the new Trigger X baits but have had better luck with the previously mentioned baits. Great options for us that's for sure. Can't wait to see what new lineups come out next year... Good fishing, Corey Bechtold

Northlander
Ratsos, ratfinkys and the mustache plastics catch me a lot of nice crappies.
BGood
Trigger X Spike Worms are working about 40-1 over every other plastics I have tried.
Valleye
Love my plastics. Have tried just about everything and my goto bait is a custom poured plastic. These are my Lil Seamen plastics that are great with the Gills and Crappies. The Maki also works well for Crappie. There are alot of plastics out there. Try them all out you might find that magic plastic!
matt1106
all my best fish are on plastics tipped with red spikes this year.
d beyer
Mine has been the mayfly from B-Y baits. Was never much of a plastic user but when the bite gets tough the gills and crappies have been hitting the mayfly.
Charlie Mason
Nope, dont use plastics at all I am with Corey on this one, so many brands can works so well. Since I started using Little Atom 10 yrs ago, so many companies have stepped up their products to meet the needs of the ice fisherman, that we now have a wide variety to choose from. Because of Clam carrying the Maki brand this year, I took another hard look at Scott's product and am very happy with the results so far. Of all the brands available, Maki has really perfected what I call the creature presentation. When gills want a wiggler off the bottom, Scott has a bait for that!
