amateurfishing
personal opinion, they don't! they will ice up quickly & too flimsy if you really wanna fighting chance, switch to a spring bobber rod. makes a huge difference & $$ well spent
jigginjim
Find Venom slip floats you can rig them on a dead stick so fine that a crappie minnow could almost pull the float down. Once you learn the options you'll buy more. I had the 15+ ice busters all chopped to different sizes, one venom can do it all and not change the float. you can see the lightest bites. monstermoose78
I like the titanium spring bobber by frabil for one that attaches to any rod. You make it longer for light jigs or shorter for heavier ones. They attach with a rubber piece that hugs your rod. Mine as not came off while fishing. As jigginjim said the Venom floats could also help if you are a float guy.
Bob Hicks
The Action Bite Indicator from Action Tackle Products out of Grand Haven, MI is just about bullet proof. And they are made in the USA, not some cheap import.
fishingstar
I use the bite indicator also. does not ice up like the others did for me. Dan
Racer5039
I found some (the last 2) Action bite indicators at Fleet Farm this afternoon. I'll give them a try. Thanks for the input.
Stringerless!
I use the old school ones that look just like the spring out of a click pen. Have to have a LONG sewing needle to thread. I do not even own any floating bobbers anymore. After using camera for a few years now and watching fish { more often sunnies than crappies because of the way they feed}completely suck a bait in and even the spring barely moves. Should note that I never use minnows for panfish either. I just secure mine with a piece of electrical tape. They are an absolute must during lite bites. I made the switch to these this year and am totally amazed at how sensitive you can set it. they are pricey up front but in the long run you save money because you no longer are cutting the foam and needing a buch of different length to get the desired effect. I do how ever still use spring bobbers too. I like the Frabill ones.
gemNeyeJoe
I use the action bite spring bobbers as well. I've out fished friends on a finicky bite simply because of this spring bobber. Easy to attach an they work awesome. These were brought to my attention after watching a Jason Mitchell show. He was using one for perch jerkin. Coryy
Don't forget about the new Clam Spring Bobbers! These things are great and have really made a difference on those days when there is a light bite. Clam Spring Bobbers
