mrpike1973
hi last year i bought a clam scout tc 1 man. i had a topper at the time for the truck the topper is gone now. would a cover work good or would i still have to tie down the house so the cover wouldnt fly off. i figured with a cover everything would be dry. thanks never had a cover so not sure its worth the bucks. Johnny_Magellan
I keep my JM Thermal X in the back of my pickup with no topper for most of the winter with just a Thermal X cover on it. It stays on great and keeps everything dry and contained in my sled.
Rick G
Yes, it's worth every penny The cover has kept my gear dry in the back of trucks... But most important, it's kept my gear dry when my house is being towed by the wheeler or a snowmobile, or even walking out early ice when its snowing. This is when I am most happy I spent the extra $ on the travel cover
leechlake
I'm pro cover but I'll throw this in there. While I'm sure the clam cover will fit tighter and is made for you fish house you may find a cheaper "cover" that in general does the job of keeping things dry without paying as much. For example, I got a new gas grill at the cabin and forgot to buy a cover. I threw my atv cover on it and for the Winter I will put the grill in the garage and have my atv cover to cover my atv when I pull it down the road for ice fishing. If you're only driving your truck on to the lake vs pulling with sled or atv this would work.
drewbop
Covers are worth every penny-not only to keep things dry, but keep them from flying out at times as well.
Mid-Lake Rock
Another thing is that is keeps salt off the house. I have a few friends that have rusted poles on their shacks from road salt.
leech~~
Another thing is that is keeps salt off the house. I have a few friends that have rusted poles on their shacks from road salt. I haul my Voyager on a snowmobile trailer all winter and salt is the big reason along with filling it full of snow when on the lake, that I will always have a cover on mine. BoxMN
I have a Voyager, and a couple Otters, and I have covers for them all. Even when I just pull one out without sleds early in season, if windy, they cover helps to keep stuff inside as well as snow out. Well worth the $$ IMO. But if using sled or atv pulling, need one for sure, as stuff bounces around and OUT...
Brad B
covers are well worth the money. the other plus that was not listed was it is nice to have for off season storage of your house. I always put all my gear in the house and then put the cover on it during the off season. it helps to keep dust and other debris from collecting in the house during the off season plus I seem to not have any mouse issues when I leave the cover on during the summer(that doesn't mean that they couldn't or wouldn't chew through it but it reduces the odds in your favor). plus I think having a cover for the house helps if you ever decide to sell the house(another added selling point). anderson_dc
Get a cover, you won't regret the purchase.
MattL
Another plus of the cover is too keep everything from flapping in the wind if you don't have a topper on your truck. I used to get lazy and not put the cover on in the truck and noticed the skirting would flop around going down the road and it started to wear thin.
