Annoying, unwanted Skype pop-up!

Recommended Posts

Annoying, unwanted Skype for business window keeps popping up at start-up. Not sure where it came from and I can't find where it is hiding to get rid of it? Ideas??

Which os?

I notice on Windows 10 if you bring up task manager (ctl alt del and click on task manager) it has a tab for "startup" that lists a bunch of stuff that (seems like) runs at startup.   Easy place to look...

Otherwise perhaps something like spybot-S&D or malware bytes might be worth a try.

If skype is installed on your computer you could uninstall it and see if the pop up goes away.   Could be something it does as it starts.

Right click and task manager is there...at least on my Windows 10. Shortcut is also on bottom lower right menu bar...

I had the same thing for a bit too...but just on this goofy site. Sure seems to be a whale of a lot of that on here for some reason. I run Malware bites, too.

Thanks guys. Yeah I've been all over, Ran Malware bites nothing. Can't find it in Undelete listed. Was on Manage Add-on's but I could not do anything with it.  Not showing on All programs list?  It's a Sign-on page that comes up at start up but I don't need or want to use it. So need to find out how to delete the popup?  Auug!

Do you have skype installed on the computer?

any version?

If I look at the Uninstall or change programs list it is not showing. If I go to manage your internet explore add-ons it is showing under Microsoft Corp File date as of April 12 2016? But all I can do is Enable or Disable it from there?

May have appeared with your Windows auto-update as pre-installed bloatware. I got 3 of those for skype on my new windows 10 updates from Microsoft. I just right-clicked and hit "delete these"....may not be same on yours. Since I did that, no more Skype hype...

I also have 3 listings for it but they are shaded out and I can't seem to do anything with them? Not sure if I have to sign on for it then delete once it's active maybe? Sure hate being made to do that!

Click on the round circle in the lower left and in the search type msconfig and hit enter. Go to the start up tab and see if you see skype and disable it.

Jim looked though them all. It's not showing on the lists. Everything on the lists shows a date of 2014 when we bought the PC.

Man it's seem like you guys are giving some good edvice just not sure what this thing is hiding or can be deleted.  Again, as Del asked. It comes up on the screen and icons on the bottom tool bar right when the PC is trued on and before I hit Goggle search.

Hmm, I looked at my PC.  I have skype installed, but it doesn't show up in the startup list but does in the list of running processes.

For what that is worth.

    • Del is correct 3ea 12v batteries in series are required to get 36v. 2 in series to get 24v and each battery 12v. You can connect a + and - wire to each individual battery, while wired in series, and run 3 separate 12v isolated devices. A + and - to either of 2 in series gives you 24v.   You NEED a "3 bank marine charger" which has 3+ and 3- charging wires which charges the 3 batteries independent of each battery. When one battery reaches full charge, that bank shuts off other 2 banks continue to charge until respective batteries are fully charged. Batteries will not overcharge.    You can run both 36v and 24v motors on a 3 in series batteries but DON'T run both at the same time. Current draw on the 2 24v batteries will greatly reduce battery life and under serve current on the 36v motor.   Best solution is separate battery banks and chargers for each motor and a separate 12v for starting motor and running 12v electronics.    Suggestion, carry a set of jumper cables long enough to reach from the battery bank to your primary motor battery. If your starter battery dies 5 miles off shore, just jumper to any one of the trolling motor batteries to start your engine.
    • Well that game went about as expected. Was worse for me, because my directv went out, so I had to listen to the game. Couple plays I wish they would have done differently...go for the touchdown at the end of the first half, instead of field goal. And when it was 4th down midway through the 4th quarter, they should have kicked the field goal instead of going for it. Was fun having a top ten ranking while it lasted. That loss guaranteed gameday won’t be here for Wisconsin game.
    • You definitely want a salt shield as it will keep SOME slush gravel  etc off of the sleds but plenty still comes over so you want to have a quality cover on your sled to
    • I have wondered what happens to those mallards that the kids feed bread to all summer on Vermilion when duck season starts...  Summer... walk out on the dock and here they come....  Fall ????
    • All the corn I have starts with an A.  And I have plenty of them.  A couple houses hung too.  Spose I should put the Free Food and Lodging sign And get some more takers. 🌰🦆👨‍🍳
    • You know if you feed them corn all summer, they are extra tasty and easy to shoot in the fall...😀
