Banded Redpoll

Cheers

Recommended Posts

Lots of redpolls this spring on the feeder . One unfortunate guy hit the window and didn't survive . My wife noticed the little guy had been banded. Turns out it was hatched 2 years ago but banded 14 months ago 500 miles east of our house . The tag was so small we needed a strong  magnifying glass just to read it , the inside band diameter was the same as a tooth pick.

nice, I am way south of you.  love the redpolls and siskens but we dont see them much.  when they do come they really do love the sunflowers.  I have one thistle sock out but it hardly ever gets attacked.

That has been my experience too.  If it is a choice between black sunflower seed and some other seed  it is sunflower all the way for everything.
