I'm not hard on Walsh.  They guy was the whole offense today.  Laces in or out he should have made that chip shot but he didn't.   I think he will be back next year and do well in the new stadium.

The new stadium should help...they're installing these:

I just stated a fact and not theory about how the NFL writes up their schedule.  Fact is the Vikings under Zimmer have improved and that's all I care about as a Viking Fan.  Fact is they have a great coach now that is well respected not only by the players but by the whole NFL.  Fact is they have a young team with  talent with a great future.  I understand that non-fans will jump on their loss in the playoffs and did cartwheels to the puter the minute Walsh missed the field goal.  That's all part of the back and forth in these threads.  NFL is entertainment for most of us.  The Vikings entertained me and I think next season will be even better.  Not one person including myself thought the Vikings would be division champs.  Everyone was wrong on that.  The idea that the Vikings did not deserve this title is absurd.  If the Packers were the better team that day they would have remained the champs but they are not.  So the fact remains, the Vikings have improved since Zimmer took over regardless of scheduling.  good luck.

With Teddy cracking 100yds passing yesterday they have nowhere to go but up...

The fact of the matter is they played a cupcake schedule and never beat a 0.500+ team until they won at GB two weeks ago.  Bridgewater was around the bottom of the QB rankings all season and Peterson only exceeded 70yds in two of the last eight games, fumbling at a critical moment of a playoff game.

Did they take advantage of their powder puff schedule?  Sure, but that did nothing but distort the reality of where this team is at competitively...and that's mediocre at best.  When you cut through the smoke of the cheerleading and kool-aid drinking this Viking team is the same Viking team we've seen for the last 50+ years whether you want to admit it or not.  If it makes you feel better to say they're not then knock yourself out, but you're only lying to yourself...the same thing Vikings fans have been doing for 50+ years.

Last night, I thought you said something to the effect of football-related posts should be in the football thread. :D

Yep.  Been waiting for the cooking mod to move them to the appropriate forum...

But weren't you just talking football in the cooking forum?

And all of the threads that turned into some football talk, all started as cooking-related threads

Yes, they improved back to exactly the same team they were in 2012. You know, the last time they had a "franchise" quarterback.;)

Old material used time after time from non-fans.

Pro tip: You don't have to be delusional to be a fan.

Amen to that RH.  I agree 100%.  Was a great season.

And I had country style ribs with Lipton Onion Soup mix over them, with cabbage cooked in the mornings bacon grease.  Awesome meal.

    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
