Good Morning!

Recommended Posts

Just make sure you don't start calling them the McReb!  I think I'll make a couple of the McRebs today with ham, nice for a change over the scrambled eggs.. Good idea, Boar! Rainy and 56* here, I'll take it. Smells good out...that damp Spring-like ground smell. *snort*  Got two of my Spring projects accomplished yday...hooked the sump pump hose back up outside, (have to crawl way under deck on the river rock)  and painted/installed some new steel replacement chain-link gate latches. Of course, holes didn't line up, and steel catch plate on house was narrower than latch steel....so of course *drill*grind*file*fabricate*    $#@! Tidied up the garage and swept it out yday, had the doors and window open to dry it out, the moisture is coming up out of the concrete slab.Today's a goof off day....so far. Enjoy it, guys.

In my ongoing convenience store trials and tribulations I came upon something yesterday that didn't surprise me.  705am, MNDOT truck pulls up and 4 guys get out to do some shopping.  It used to be that a guy would pack his lunch and break food in a cooler or lunch pail. Now you "punch in" and then head to get paid while you shop.  Feel free to tell me they were on break but I ain't buying it.

Ton of landscaping clean up to do around our place.  We can lick it in a day or two but need to stay on task.  The grass is perfect but the shrubs and mulch need some big time attention especially in the back and side of house.  I see a chance for family bonding time in the near future.

I was filling my wife's car up with gas because I'm a nice guy and I do not at all know for certain anything and am making an assumption based on 48 years of life.  I even pondered asking them since in my goofy mind they are working for me but thought a 7am dust up would be bad.  I also thought that two of them looked like they were on work release from prison.  I would wager any bet.  If I'm wrong I buy them their food and if they're wrong they lose their job for stealing from the public.

It's so common to do this stuff that nobody cares.  I worked for 5 years in concrete construction as a teen-early twenties. Zero times did myself or others take a company rig to pick up lunch and it was a Union job.  Zero, zilch, never, ever, wasn't a thought, never.  The end.  Did I mention never?  We also never took our own car to leave the job page, never, ever, zero, zilch, notta.  No loopholes in my comments, never.

Is it morning already? Seeing boar's sammiches made me hungry so had to address that before I could do anything. Just another one of those days, bouncing from one thing to another. Office needs a revolving door on it some days. Nothing positive to report in the lambing barn. Went home to check out a ewe the wife wanted looked at. The ewe was pushing but after donning the OB sleeve, determined the ewe's cervix wasn't dilated one iota. Usually doesn't end well but am keeping my fingers crossed.

Major tax appt. on Thursday so am getting ready for that and need some writing time. Need to hide for the rest of the afternoon methinks. Apparently LL's conversion must not have "took".

I did better at a trip to the grocery store.  I even took a photo in line and sent it to a buddy and said "serenity".  Work in progress :)

Speaking of the store it was at Cub and the butcher wouldn't sell me their highly coveted hi temp cheese they have in the meat dept.  Where do I get high temp cheese? only thing I need for the ABT sausage.

Go to the search box  of your browser, ie google, and type in buy high temperature cheese.   Amazon, https://www.waltonsinc.com/seasonings/high-temperature-cheesehttp://www.butcher-packer.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=204&zenid=087e2bc30c9542d2feb0400e3d851b40 and http://www.ferrariandsons.com/index.php/high-temperature-cheeses-1.html

are among the first few results.   Hope this helps.

Thanks Del.  I was hoping I could just buy it at a store as in drive my truck there.  Maybe Lindell didn't pitch the 4 year old stuff he had and I could order it from him?  Yes, if he did throw it it's probably near my walleye filets in the landfill.

Reb must be at the moderator party.  The rookies always get tricks played on them and they have to pay for dinner.

Man that sounds great Reb.  I  have not thrown the cheese yet.  Just cause I haven't been in that freezer yet.  Consider it yours LL.  ;)  I find it here in our little grocery store.  Surprised Cub doesn't have it for sale.  The problem is when I find it it is in 10 lb bags. Nice here today but windy and cloudy.  No flip flops after work for me.  We still have quite a bit of snow.  The river is looking darker today.  3 guys have their trucks parked out on the river fishing today.  Unreal... Rookies.  That is good name for them.    I always think it is people who haven't caught many fish that take those chances.  I remember when I was a rookie and took those chances.  That was many fish ago.  One of the big resorts here had a huge group of people coming to ice fish in two weeks.  They decided they will have boats ready and will have that group fishing in the river instead then.  ????  We'll see, I hope it is open then.  Open water about 10 miles east of Birchdale I hear.  Later boys.

Are you trying to sneak into Mexico del? :D

Well, as I suspected, that didn't end well. Got home, went to the neighbors to get straw, loaded it up and when I got home the wife said the ewe had expired. That was quick but at least she didn't have to linger and suffer. I put them out of their misery before that happens just out of principle. Didn't have to this time. Just part of the game I've been playing for 50 some odd years I guess. Did have a ewe lamb born tonight so was thankful for that. 25 - 5. Was also able to compost the deads. They accumulate after a while during the winter and need to be dealt with. Last thing you want is stray dogs, raccoons, coyotes, etc., to start hanging around. Luckily the pile was thawed, something I did not expect. There was snow however under the area where I had unloaded the spreader back in January. Used some of that manure for composting to get the bacteria fired up again. A lot of bedding in it. Good time to get it going as the moisture content is about right. Best of all, as muddy as it was I didn't get the skidloader stuck! :)

Ice may be out on St. Olaf at least partially tomorrow. Ice was really dark tonight when I came home and it's staying breezy. Talked to my friend who has a place at the marina by Baudette and he showed me pics of his fish house sitting in the water on top of the ice. He's heading up there tomorrow to get it off if he can't talk his friend into pulling it off for him.

Time to warm up a lamburger, lick my wounds, enjoy a distilled Canadian beverage and get ready to fight another day. :)
