Good Morning!

Recommended Posts

Sure, I get a late start on the day after surviving another "blizzard", doing chores, evading Mrs. Cheviot's advances and ridding myself of the office pest only to see my good name and reputation being sullied! :D Actually I missed that ad. I fell asleep right after halftime and didn't wake up until well into the 4th quarter. In the meantime after chores last night, I'd helped myself to several of the freshwater mermaids (see Good Morning Weekend Edition) while cooking brats then stuffed myself. Had a mushroom and Swiss and a wild rice and cheddar brat, kraut, relish, baked beans, salsa, chips and a few more mermaids. Suddenly I was transported to dream land. I awoke to Mrs. Cheviot pawing me as is her wont, wondering if I'd seen the video. I was more interested in the Border Collie. Looks like our old pal Gus. Talks like him too. ;) I did see the Doritos ad where the dogs were dressed up as did Ruby. She growled and barked which made us laugh. The Westminster Dog Show is coming up so we'd better have her sedated.

Glad Denver won. It wasn't a great game to watch but they made fewer mistakes and deserved to win. I appreciated Manning's humility following the game We have relatives with season tickets in Denver too who were at the game. Watching the Gopher women's BB team come from behind and win in double OT behind a 60 point performance by Rachel Banham was a lot more exciting though. She was also very gracious and humble considering she'd just tied the NCAA Div. 1 scoring record.

The storm was about what I expected. Last week's episode had a lot of moisture in it and when I shoved it back yesterday it conformed to the shape of the bucket when I dumped it. The warm temps Sat. & Sun. caused a glaze to form on the surface of it so it was glued down pretty well. A little less than an inch of snow near as I can tell here. Most of it's in groves, around building sites or in town so it's tough to tell how much exactly.

Dotch's farm, where the men are men and the sheep are nervous?

That one's older than you are del! When I lived in ND, it was "where men are men and so are the women". I can honestly say though that in my statistically significant sampling of the female population in ND, I found them to be anatomically correct. :D

After I type this I'm heading to Cub for more porterhouse.  Porterhouse and T-bones are the same price at 4.99 lb.  They didn't have a limit as of yesterday.  When I get home I'm making venison ring bologna but in link form this time.  Added extra garlic and some mustard seeds to the batch.  Next up is some jalapeno summer sausage which I will try something different with.  This time I'm going to take a bunch of fresh jalapeno's and gently fry them up to get tender and then run them in my food processor a bit. I'll take the seeds out though.  Then add them to the 25 pound batch.  Last time I used pickled jalapenos that didn't give the heat I wanted.  Got the casings soaking and should be ready to stuff when I get home.  good luck.

Dotch, you'll have to excuse him. Del wasn't allowed near ANY sheep growing up. He's never said why.  sheep2.gif

Used to work with a guy from Montana.   North Dakota, it's not the end of the world but you can see it from there.

Happy Tuesday.  Not a cloud in the sky right now, may see some needed sun.  Here's a tip for those that don't like Mondays.  Try to plan something for Mondays, even better if it's a recurring event, that you like to do.  Could be lunch with someone you like or an event that you like.  I have one now and it makes me like Mondays again.  I always thought it was goofy to dislike a day of the week so much since you can't do anything about it anyway.

I got two things done this am early that I normally wouldn't have so things are heading in the right direction.  I attained an anniversary of my own today but more importantly many related things are gaining traction also.  I'm calling it being rewarded multiple times for doing one thing.  That doesn't happen in life that often or maybe it does and I never recognized it.  Either way doesn't matter.

Enough of the "deep thought" for the day.  Spring is right around the corner.

Mornin fellas,  lunch time, left over burger and fries washed down with a Coke.  The days have really never bothered me, I'm home generally around two every day so I have lots of time to enjoy the day. It's the cold and wind that I'm having a hard time with, the older I get the more it takes out of me.

If I remember correctly reb mentioned his b-day was around the super bowl. ....happy birthday buddy!!!    And happy anniversary to LL......have a fine day fellas.

Happy anniversary LL! To celebrate that and your recent conversion, maybe you should go dancing! :D

Happy Birthday Reb! Let's go to the 7th Rib to celebrate sometime and I'll buy! ;)

There, now I got that off my chest, I can have Mrs. Cheviot continue to work on my back. Been eating a lot of horseradish lately. Note my Michelle photo in the background. I too am a convert! :D

Sunshine, breakfast and coffee after chores and I'm wound until lunch. According to my scientific calculations it's the 2nd Tuesday of the month meaning it's Rib Day in Hartland. Have to maintain until then. Had to move some snow on the end of the driveway this morning. Wind blew all night and made some hard drifts. Had visions of plastic car parts lying there if Mrs. Cheviot tried to blast through them so bundled up. Had to pry an expired sheep out of the skidloader bucket first. The wool was froze onto the ice in the bucket so getting it out slowed the process. Once that was extracted, things went a lot smoother. Made Mrs. Cheviot happy. The things we do for love...(sigh)

Pretty chilly out there this am. Friday looks worse.  Think I'll go to the do- it -yourself car wash today, and give Mr Sparkles a nice, foamy bath. We have one here with really soft foamy hand-held brushes. Garage is holding at around 40* degrees...drive home 90 MPH  before everything freezes up solid. I'll fire up the Buddy heaters and chamois him dry. With this cold spell, at least he'll stay clean for a while. It's a pain, but I take my time, crank up the tunes, sit on a bucket, and sit close to the heaters. Just like ice fishing.   Have a good day guys, and keep warm.

Mornin'! Always comforting to see smurf and Reb sniping at each other this early in the morning. And it's cloudy again. Nice to know there are some constants.

Not so much the wind today but this cold snap is starting to wear on me especially at choretime. It's physical so I keep moving and stay warm but I'm just gassed by the end of the day. Did get a bit of good news after talking to my sheep shearer last night who agreed that shearing on Saturday morning with a - 15 degree low would be a bad idea. Moving it to Tuesday afternoon when it should be in the low 30's. He's a few years younger than I am so at least I don't feel like such a wuss. I probably owe him a bottle of Crown but it'll be worth it. Lotsa other fun stuff to do in the meantime. Need to get some straw to bed everything and keep an eye on the weather. It may snow Sunday so have to make sure the ewes don't get wet. Shearing wet sheep sucks for all parties concerned. Get the neighbor to bring up the last of my round bales and plop it in the feedlot Friday then I'll be golden. :)

I do have to laugh though. Just got rid of the office pest. He came in and proudly announced that he still had chores to do and the same snow to move he had yesterday. He sure gets a lot of mileage out of that snow. At least it makes me feel better about my meager efforts before and after work. And I don't have a cab on anything. I may be more of a stud than I thought! :)

I owe a phone call to my pest, thanks for reminding me Dotch.  Most of the tips I passed on I've learned from my dealings with him.  Kind hearted soul for sure, listening skills zero.  I think he'd be one of the people that would save my life in a burning building or if I was drowning would jump in and save me but since those things haven't happened I haven't quite valued his friendship like I should maybe.

I just went to the post office, it's 2 degrees here and feels like 2 degrees here.  Out of spite I wore summer flip flops and probably looked ridiculous.  Some guy was trying to get Passports made for his family, the clerk at our little post office seemed like he didn't know what he was doing and also sounded like he was reading out of the post office procedure manual.  The "customer" didn't seem to like the procedure too much but the clerk seemed he may be saving the world from a terrorist mom and dad with their three kids from any nefarious international behavior.  The dad did have kind of long hair so maybe he was a bad guy, many bad guys have long hair I guess.

I'm kind of down today.  Bernie won, I should be pumped up.  He gave a long victory speech too.  Made me think he's becoming Cam Newton like, savoring victory too much and most likely running from anything to do with defeat.

Finally, I pulled a Bobber and my daughter and I went driving last night.  She needs confidence driving and I turned into Lou Holtz pumping her up.  We had fun, it's fun doing "dad" stuff when it seems like it really matters.  Kind of those Seminole moments in life where what you say matters.  While she drove we talked about Bernie a bit, in honest words.  She likes him still and had some real reasons why that I disagree with but can understand her thinking.  I told her he's a nutbag and she laughed. I think she disagreed with me but could understand my thinking.  When she pulled into the garage we did our normal high five where we purposely miss hands like Stevie Williams and Tiger Woods seemed to do all the time.  Our once secret handshake is exposed!

Seminole moments?   I didn't know you were Native American?  ;)

And I still have a grudge against Lou Holtz, after he talked big and dumped the Gophers.

Can ya toss Norm Green in there too for me?

When you show up to work in the morning and the name of the business has changed from the North Stars to the Stars I think it's time to look for a different job unless you want to move.

Us Bernie supporters say Seminole...not seminal....
