might invest in one.  anybody shoot the bersa or the pk?

Both fun little guns. No, I haven't shot either one. BUT, I do believe you have to manually "decock" the PK by putting the safety on and pulling the trigger. I just don't like doing that with a round in the chamber. Don't know if the Thunder is the same, but I would guess so. Both are hammer fired  (vs striker) DA's. Both have good reps. If you have big hands, though, might want to look at another .380.........if you do have smaller hands, I think the Walther Pico is kinda neat, too.

Ammo is a lot cheaper than .40 and .45 cal, believe me.

Ya, I follow. Lost in the translation it seems. Tough to do that in the middle of a comp/multi-person range shoot. Never mind. Just offered up some friendly insight. My mistake.

I have a PK380.   It's fun to shoot, fairly accurate, and doesn't rattle the wife's wrist bones like my glock 17 does.  It's also has what's probably the easiest to rack slide on any pistol.

I don't have giant hands, but I'm 6' 1" and can just almost palm a basketball.  It fits well in my hands.  It fits my wife like a full size auto fits me.  As far as 380s go, I think it's on the larger size.  I've heard complaints it isn't small enough.   If you want a pocket 380, I'd get a Sig 238, cuz those things are sweet.

The PK380 does have some quirks that I'm not a huge fan of though, mainly just because it different than other guns I've owned/shot.

1.  It doesn't have a slide release button.  Slide holds back on an empty magazine, have to pull it back just a little bit for it to return and chamber a round.

2.  The safety takes some getting used to.  I can't count how many times I've went click on my first shot because I'm used to a glock with no manual safety.  I guess some people get confused by the safety, but it's pretty obvious to me.  I think of it like a valve on a gas line or something, when it's in line with the barrel it's hot, when it's at a 45 degree angle to the barrel, it's safe.  Just takes some getting used to after shooting glocks for years.

3.  You do have to put the safety on and pull the trigger to decock it.  I always follow the hammer down with my thumb.  Doesn't bother me that much, but always triple check the safety before I do that.

Like I said those things are mostly my problem not the gun.  My only real complaints about the gun are that it's big enough on the grip to have a double stack magazine, but for some reason Walther gave it 8 rounds.  The slide also marred up the finish end of the barrel pretty quick.  And no handgun should require a special stupid tool for you to break it down.

I think the Walther Pico is kinda neat, too.

Sure that isn't a Beretta you are talking about?

Yes, I was!!!  Thank you!!! Have a pile of gun catalogs on the table here; looking at too many things at once....ammo rolling all over, LOL   Had to grab some more rounds and oil yesterday, looked at one of those for a bit. Kimbers are nice too, but oh so spendy.....and too small for me. Ever picked up a micro??

How's the fit and finish on yours?

No, on the PK, bobby.....

Sorry, you confused me there because I talked about the fit and the finish already, but I guess you're talking about "fit and finish".

It seems pretty well made to me and I've never had trouble with it, but it's also a $325 handgun.  So to compare it to say a PPK isn't fair.   I've heard complaints that it doesn't live up to the Walther name, but I think that's people trying to compare it to a gun that's twice the price.

I have the ruger lcp380.  nice little pistol but if you have a hand any larger than a normal person, it does bite.  i wear a 2x glove and have an extender on the mag and i will only shoot it if needed.  i can't get a box of ammo through it in one time at range.  good luck.

Be sure you look closely at ALL the features of each pistol you examine. Manual safety?  Striker fired? Lock open on last round? Easy take down? Magazine extension available? Magazine release that will instantly dump your empty mag.

Pay attention to details and not to  how "pretty" the pistol is. Some of the pretty ones have a trail of problems behind them.

And those annoying danged things like the little tool that you must have to lock or  "take down" the Walther. Lose it in the field, and $#@!. Of course, there's the pin you must drive out of my Ruger to release the slide to field strip it, and the sear pin that you push down and can't even see in low light on my Shield.....and the Xdm is different yet. Sometimes I like my revolvers a whole lot more. ;)

Well, let me suggest that the " I don't plan on running many shells through it.." is not a good plan. Shoot the hell out of it!  If you really think you are going to depend on that gun you'll want to know it inside and out....how it shoots....how it shoots one handed and two handed and around a corner.  Shoot shoot shoot.

Shoot hot loads and cold loads and big loads and little loads......shoot shoot shoot.

I will try it out before I buy it and buy one that fits me well and I can hit what I aim at. Not gonna get a gun with lottsa bells and whistles. I dont plan on being in a long shootout with it.   If threatened and I can grab it and shoot it it's me or the other going down. Hopefully it will never come to that. I have put tons of rounds thru other weapons, so I wont have a problem mastering whatever I decide on.
