Boar-  my wife has the best work ethic a person could have.   I won't go into it but the only thing I can figure that Boar and I have been blessed with is our good looks, brains, sense of humor, and good looks.  It's easy to bag a trophy wife when you've got what Boar and I have :)

Just in case you others are wondering... it is a burden to be like us, right Boar?

Sounds like a curse.....  ;)

I heard that if you can touch your tongue to your your nose you probably will have an easier time finding a woman.  Is that true Leech?

yes and then she turned 50...

I think I have a bucket of walleyes in my hand in that photo...it's hard to remember that was a few years ago but I'm just assuming I did.  Now she likes me for my cooking and walleye skills.  Btw...that's one of my more photogenic pictures.  Quit making fun of me.

look how good you two look!  Biggest question is how you got a VIP press pass?  Then again it is the Eelpout Festival, the Pout Gazette is all based on lies on purpose.  Here's a photo of Deb and I, obviously more proof that our gals overachieved.

Cripes, I had to look at these pics, and I just finished that wonderful Mexican dinner......burp.gif

it's 440pm and you're done?  I think I will have to come down there and straighten you out a bit.

if anyone wants to go to the Fest we can stay at my place, it's about 6 miles west of Walker Bay.  I will pass on going into town during that time but we can catch walleyes on our lake, Kabekona Lake (not Kabekona Bay).  I think we would eat well too.

Ok- our place is moderate size but we rigged up bedrooms so we have the ability to sleep quite a few.  We can sleep 10-12 depending on if it's couples or singles.  Plenty of flexibility with twin beds in some bedrooms and queen beds in others.  What I'm saying is if we end up with 4 individual guys and 3-4 couples you will get your privacy even with that mix.

Our place is on the north side of Kabekona about smack dab in the middle of the lake if you want to look it up. The address is XXXXX County Road 39 Laporte MN  56461.  It's a great walleye lake but as you all know end of season isn't a perfect time to fish so a goal of enough for a fish fry is perfect.

My late dad's place is two miles away and a pretty good crappie lake with a zillion perch but they have those "worms" in them.  Fun to catch but I pass on eating them.  We have options for what you want to do.

Here's another failure of mine. Notice the trend???

One time when I was still learning about making chili, I was making a batch for a card party for some friends and I. Remembering that my previous attempts at chili didn't seem to have quite the heat I was hoping for, I decided I would make sure this time. As I was preparing the chili I was adding chili powder and tasting it only to find it still lacked heat so I added more. I repeated this until it had the heat I was looking for and then I simmered the chili for about 4 hours. That was the day I learned that the peppers need to be cooked in.

When we sat down to eat I had four adult men sweating, red-faced, noses running, with tears in their eyes. Needless to say, I ended up throwing the whole batch in the trash.

    • Aw, man, sorry to hear that.  Shed some tears and remember her well.  They all take a piece of our hearts with them; some more than others.
    • yes sorry for your loss..  our dogs are always special...
    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
