JP Z
I guess it came down to a money issue as his contract was up. I'm not sure exactly all that he did but from what they say he was making $1,500 per game. That seems like a lot to be able to hangout at a Vikings game and basically just have fun. I guess his contract expired this past year so he was looking for a "wee" bit of a raise. Looking to make $20K per game for the next 10 years........That seems a bit excessive to me. Well best of luck to him, he was always fun to watch.
pikestabber
Yeah, that was maybe a bit too steep of a jump for a negotiation! If he had said, say, $5k a game instead, he might still be employed. I guess something about demanding a 1300+% pay increase just doesn't speak to employers. nofishfisherman
$20,000 per game for 10 years? Both are ridiculous numbers. Asking for a 1300% raise is one thing, then asking them to make a 10 year commitment at that absurd price is just plain crazy.I can certainly see a pay raise being a reasonable request but you have to operate in reality when asking for it. Either he got some really bad advice or has no idea what he was doing in his negotiations. If any of my direct reports would come to me asking for that kind of raise that conversation would be a non-starter. We'd instantly be so far apart that it wouldn't even be worth having the discussion.
JP Z
The Best part about it all is some dude started a petition on change.org to the Wilfs to Bring Ragnar back. I'm thinking this one is a 2-way street. Not like they just canned him for no reason. That and I don't think this dude has any idea what all the Ragster was asking for. LindellProStaf
I thought $1500 per game was a pretty good gig. I too thought maybe start at $3 - 5,000 and see what happens. Maybe he is tired of doing it and wanted a way out. But for $20,000 maybe he could fit it in his tight schedule.

LMITOUT
The acting job required to portray excitement and enthusiasm for a horrible NFL franchise to a crowd of mouth breathers year after year takes unbelievable talent. I say pay the man...he's earning every penny. Search Function
reinhard1
I think that the cheerleaders are a better attention aspect for me. How often do you see this guy to justify 20 grand a pop? I see the cheerleaders more than him. good luck. Bobby Bass

Finns
Start high and then negotiate downward?Kind of like a used car salesman/woman.
CANOPY SAM
I'd wager he stood fast on $20K per game, and negotiations were not an option. He went all in and the franchise walked him to the door. When you are the most exciting entertainment available in a stadium of 65,000 people you really deserve at least $160K per year for your efforts, don't you!?!? Sandmannd
Unrealistic asking price. He should have asked for $3-4k and been done with in. Most would do it for little to nothing. You get to go to the games and hang out with players on the side lines. Not like it's a hard job. There's tons of fans that wouldn't even see it as a job and just enjoy doing it. Kare 11 had the original Viking on the news last night and he thought Ragnar would regret this. JP Z, reinhard1 and gunner55

MN BassFisher
Crazy asking price! The news did a story last night about Hub Meeds, before Ragnar. Big Dave2
Were they asking this guy to do appearances and things beyond just attending the games?
JP Z
Even if they were I'm sure they would negotiate those type of events. This was just what he wanted per game.
