Is a upgrade to vexilar from marcum worth it

Hi I have 2 marcum vx 1 pro's want to get fl 18 or fl 12 worth the money or no? is the fl 12 a split screen having a hard time figuring it all out on there sites. thank you

If the marcum shows the bottom, your jig. fish , and is dependable what more do you need! they still have to bite!

I have an old FL-18 and it works just fine for me.  The newer Vex's are way better. My .02

An FL-12 is not a split screen.  It is a flat screen version of the FL-8.  The FL-18 and up have the split screen.

In my opinion the split screen (auto-zoom) is absolutely worth the extra money.  I had an FL-8 for years and finally upgraded to a FL-18 a few years ago and couldn't be happier.  I would like to pass the 18 down to my wife and upgrade to a FL-28 for myself.

The VX-1 Pro is essentially an FL-18 with crisper lines and less interference issues (if you fish near other Marcums). Not worth it, and not an "upgrade" at all in my opinion

I personally like and prefer vexilar flashers for ice fishing. I never had much luck with marcum products. The FL18 will be similar to your VX1 for zoom. The FL12 doesn't have a zoom. Where you can really make the FL18 shine is by getting one with a Tri-beam. Which will allow you to adjust the sonar cone between 8*,12*, & 20* allowing you to see the optimal area for the depth you fish. I believe your VX1 only has a single cone. Also, you might wanna look to see if you have more interference rejection settings with the vexilar.  Vexilar also has lot of handy accessories that are available on the vexilar products. like digital depth, flex lights, and different cases.

Have they fixed the issue with the LX6,7,9 not being able to show fish in the top 3feet. A dead spot like that would drive me crazy.
