MJR
Will you still bash Daunte after he wins the leage MVP this year?on pace for 54 TD's over 5,000yds and 4 picks
ATM
Hopefully he wont fumble it away when the big game is on the line. He has always had good stats he just cant win the big game. Adam
IFallsRon
Daunte may be able to throw up five TDs in a game but he if he doesn't win a Super Bowl he's just another QB.
buzzsaw
So Culpepper, Manning, McNair, McNabb & Hasselback are just average QB's? bud, it's not easy winning a super bowl and it takes more than just having a great QB.... heck Plunkett,Brad Johnson & Trent Dilfer won a super bowl. Besides I always hear the saying "Defense wins championships" right? It makes for good conversation anyways.
ATM
I would take tom brady over daunte any day he does not put up the huge stats that daunte does but he does not make half the mistakes. Unfortnately our defense is not that good so we have to have daunte put up huge numbers. yes defense does win champions again look at new england. SledNeck_X
Dan Marino didnt win a superbowl either.
muskybuck
The more media coverage Culpepper gets the bigger his head gets. The bigger his head gets the worse he plays. He could be one of the best if he could handle the hype.
IFallsRon
And as his head gets bigger his hands get smaller.
buzzsaw
Muskybuck, How do you figure?? Do you just make things up as you go? Duante doesn't have a big head.. and handling the hype... c'mon man.. 5 more TD's this week. If your going to make a statement try not to sound like an uneducated packer fan. State facts... use an example..... help us understand where your coming from.
Borch
Apparently some folks will not like him even if he breaks all the records, makes all the right decisions and gets us to the superbowl. With the 31st ranked defense obviously the only reason we wouldn't win it was that a Daunte led offense wasn't able to score 50+ points on a much better defensive team. Yep, Seem to make sense to me. Defnintely it's the QB on this team that needs to be replaced. We'd better start shopping for ones that's better right now......I wait....There isn't anyone who's better. MJR
Now the pace is 5,684 yds and 58 TD's. I think those of you who do not like him should look back to better days with, george, cunningham (1yr almost as good as this one has started), Moon, Kramer, Wilson, Johnson the list of mediocracy goes on.By far Culpeper is in a leage of his own. muskybuck
I think Culpepper and Farve are a lot alike. Neither one of them can think on their own and when things start going bad they do stupid things. I think Culpepper could very well be a MVP someday but just like Farve had Holmgren, Culpepper needs someone to tell him what to do and hold his hand, maybe both hands. As you see nobody has been holding Farve's hand the last few years and see what he has done. Its going to be along time before you see either one of these two QB's in the super bowl. Believe me, if the Vkies make it there by chance, I will be rooting for them just as loud as you. Culpepper still has too much Jive for me though. Thats just what I think boys. MJR
Just to clear something up, Farve is not doing so good because he is old and plays for a pretty lousy team.Daunte just passed every other QB who has ever played the game for the best first 5 games of a season.Dauntes biggest flaw is that he does not play on defense. Muskybuck, Too much Jive??? You need to get your roll on!
muskybuck
I guess Mr Herman would call it "celebrating" but if I remember right I think Mr. Culpepper has gotten two (at least) unsportsman like conduct penalties for it so far. I do not imagine Mr. Tice was too impressed with that either. Roll on.
Borch
Musky,At least get your facts straight. There was one unsportman like penalty called one Culpepper. The reason it was called was that Kelly Campbell came off the side line to join him in his get a roll on routine. All celebrations involving more than one player will be flagged. Especially when that player comes off the sideline onto the field to do it. Even thouogh Culpepper's number was also mentioned that penalty was on Campbell. If fact Tice was mentioned that Campbell would likely be fined by the league and that he(Campbell not Culpepper) was in Tice's doghouse. Culpepper has done very little to hurt his team. If fact he's carried this team to point.I sure hope you're not living on vikings seasons past and guarding yourself against disappointment. If you are I couldn't blame you. It's tough having your heart ripped out season after season. But if you're judging Culpepper based on his choice of celebration your really digging. buzzsaw
Darn it Borch, you stole my thunder! I read muskywhatevers post and was getting set to correct him but you beat me to the punch... nice work! Musky, how can you even think about criticizing the front runner for league MVP? I just have to think your a packer fan or have some sort of alterior motives.
Guest
Sometimes the best is not good enough for some. Heck people even bashed Montana!C pep has a really good chance of being one of the best to ever play the game at his position. Barring injury, he's on pace to break every single season record there is. How can you bash that?Like others have said, it's not just the Randy and Daunte show anymore. He hits everyone for big plays now, a sure sign of a QB who is maturing. Daunte is young, he's got maybe 10 more years in him, maybe more. He's going to rack up some mega numbers in the years to come. This team and organization will win a championship or two before it's all said and done and then you'll start to see the comparisons drawn between him and other great QB's. If they dont, they will be speaking of Daunte in the same breath as Archie Manning, Fran Tarkington, and Dan Fouts, some of the greatest to never win it all. muskybuck
He's pretty darn good alright. Lets see if he can get three MVP's in a row or even not in a row. Then I might agree with him being one of the two or three best.

bottomfeeder
I was listening to a vikings game one time on the radio. After Jeff George made a pass completion the announcers (duckies & bunnies) quickly stated..."and that's what makes Jeff George the most prolific passer in the history of the NFL".So anyway, I guess if you are a quarterback for the queens, then you are automaticaly elevated to top quarterback of all time status.I've already been lobbying for Hall of Fame induction for Shawn Salsbury and Spurgin Win. Hawks
I just can't believe the clowns that continue to bash Culpepper. What does a guy have to do to get SOME, just a little, respect? All of you goofy Pack fans should give it up on your "I'll respect him when he wins MVP" or "I'll respect him when he wins a Super Bowl." Talk about pathetic! This guy has been absolutely incredible. Don't anyone go and think that Gus would have this team where they are today!
Ole #1
All the Daunte bashers must be racists, that's the only reason they could have such a dislike for him. He's been near perfect this year and there is no way anyone can bash him.If you bash Daunte, you do NOT know football. To all the other's, who can stop us this year? I know there are some issues on D, but who can stop our offense? No one.The great thing is that things will only improve. The Vikings are in the super bowl this year.Ole
MJR
BF I know you are a Cheesehead so I will have to tell you again we are talking about this year and what Daunte is doing. Best qb of all time maybe in 10 yrs. Jeff George was a QB in a series of band aid on broken arm qbs we had for several years and I do not think he was ever considered very good probably slightly above average at best. Spurgeon (AKA Nevergonna) Win was awesome but he was no Majikowski.By the way no QB ever in the history of the game has had the #'s Daunte has put up through 5 games this year. So that would be a pretty good argument for the best season ever by a QB so far. But time will tell.Johnny Unitas never had a 5td game, Culpeper has 3 this year.
