Line still good?

I found an entire unopened spool of Red box Trilene (4#) that I purchase last spring in the back of a drawer. Is this line any good or should I just take the loss?

It's fine as long as it was not in the Sun or extreme heat. Spool up.

Boy I hope its still good. Most my line on my spools are a good five years old.

5 year old mono? How do you deal with the memory? The coils made by the mono forming to the spools drives me crazy.

I got tired of changing mono every year and switched to braid 4 years ago then I run a mono snell for the last four to ten feet of line. The braid will last me years without needing to be changed.

I do the same as Kyhl, but after 3-4 years I wind the braid onto a different reel, thereby reversing the line on the new spool. Its like getting new line, and really how many times do we use even the first 100' of of a 100-150 yard spool of braid.

Then its a length of flourocarbon for a leader tied on with either a small swivel or back to back uni knots.

Typically I put half a spool on the reel, along with some mono for backing. That braid can get sort of spendy.

Same here for the 2-3 rods I have braid on.Mono,braid,then a flouro leader for me.

Thanks! I found the line in the back of a drawer in the basement so I putting on my reels.
