NICE FISH GUYS:

IN THE DETROIT LAKES AREA I CAUGHT MY LARGEST LARGEMOUTH AT JUST OVER 22 INCHES. IT WEIGHTED 6 LBS. 3 OZ. IT WAS A LITTLE THIN BUT OVERALL A BEAUTIFUL FISH. I'M WAITIN FOR THE 7LB PLUS TO REPLICA.

DON'T REALLY FISH FOR SMALLIES, BUT KNOW I'M MISSING OUT!

GREAT POST!

There was a picture of a LM Bass in the local paper that had a 7lb 14oz fish caught in the McGregor area. It didn't give a length and I can't find the picture on the net either. Any guess on the length of a fish that heavy?

It really is tough, because anything over 6 lbs. starts depending on gerth. I've seen some huge bass that have weight 7lbs but never measured over 21-22inches.

My rule of thumb, over 20 inches...

A GREAT FISH by any means!

Nice Fish All, the ones you remember. I'm in the same boat as most: Large=22" Small=19.5".

But I found numbers in a small lake up north. Have recorded 9 smallies 17-19.5" and 19 large between 18-22" this summer alone (and it's not over yet!). Best fishing of my life.

Like I stated in an earlier post, I might get a replica made of my 22" Largemouth. Do any of you guys out there have any big bass mounted or have replices of them? If so, I'd love to hear about it. Or better yet, see a pic of it!

He caught that at one of our LETS tournaments and it was a dandy...

My personal best LM is 21", not sure on weight. I've had a few around that mark, still looking for that 7+...

This was a few years back but I think it was 22" largie but I can't be certain. I do have a pic of a tad smaller one that same day. The biggun inhaled the lizard and that took a bit to get out and back in the water. I know all fish tales!! LOL

Otherwise I got a 21" on 7/4/04 with a pic that's at home. But I do have a pic.

Biggest smallie was 20.5" on Mille Lacs about two years ago. The pic used to be on the front page of FM.

My personal best for LM bass is 21" and that was last year. It seems this year I can't break that 19" barrier.
I don't target Smallies too much, but 19" is my largest from Rainy Lake.

This was my latest 19" from Pokegama Lake last Friday caught on the new Photon lures. This crankbait worked excellent pre-fishing until I lost it. frown.gif The GlowBass worked great on that particular lake.

I finally dumped a huge monkey off my back last weekend. I've caught a pretty fair amount of 5lb.+ largemouth in my 20 years of bass fishing. But, I had never weighed a fish over 6. I finally did it on Sunday, hung a fish on my reasonably accurate digital, 6 pounds 5 ounces. I had long said that I would mount my first bass over 6 and that would be it for trophies. I pitched the fish back. I honestly would have had no problem killing that fish, but I just didn't want it. I don't know why. Whatever.

At least I don't have as much big bass envy anymore. I still need to break 5 on a smallmouth, 4-15 is my current hurdle.

Thanks everybody. Thats the biggest smallie Ive ever seen somebody catch too. My biggest was probably 20000 times smaller than that. You could tell it was big when it hit. At first I didnt think it could be a smallie, just by how it was taking line and it wouldnt come in. And theres no way theres that big of a fish in here. But when it came in, we both lost it. We were screamin and laughing for about 10 minutes. It was awesome. Out of the wierdest place too.

my biggest smallie is 19 inches (I've caught 4 this year right around that mark) and alot from 17 to 19 nothing over 20 however I did witness a guy that fishes the same area as me catch 2 20" smallies within 5 minutes of eachother the largest being 22 inches ( I have pics but big Mike knows the story about the digi pics.... lol I'm not goin into it) and Ive never targeted Large Mouths but my biggest was just over 4 lbs on a lucky strike (anyone remeber those I dont think they make em any more)
