Gloves

Yep, tough to beat wool gloves. They're relatively cheap and most importantly quick drying, so I keep multiple pairs to switch out to dry when necessary.

My favorite all around wool glove are the ones with all the finger tips cut off. But I have have a few pairs of mitts too, some with flip-able ends and some without.

They aren't waterproof, but you don't have to turn them inside out to dry. Just chuck them on the dash for a few minutes and they are good to go again smile

The best glove I have used is the made by glacier glove, the Alaska river flip mitt. They are fingerless but have the mitts. The are lined with fleece, wind proof, and have a neoprene palm. Having a neoprene palm is the ticket when handling panfish, they really help keeping them dry. I love them for hole hopping. They may not be the warmest but they keep the wind out and thats half the battle. I will put a hand warmer in my palms and that really helps keeping your hands warm. I've only found them on line.

Cabellas made some Gortex/Neoprene glove/mitten combos, kind of like the wool glomit. Those are pretty solid and are the ones I use the most.

Anybody tried the SealSkinz? Supposedly waterproof on the outside and wool on the inside?

My favorite is the Frabil Fxe task glove I think its called...very warm for their size and 100% waterproof...For a big glove Frabil snosuit mitten...

I completely agree on the Task glove, I lost my first pair and didn't want to spend the money to replace them but in the end found nothing beat them. Then after a week or so of buying a new set found the old ones in my wheel house under the mattress of the bunk! I would buy a third set if it came down to it.

For actual fishing, the best I have found is the neoprene glacier glove. They are thin, and completely waterproof. They even have a wrist strap, so you can stick your arm completely under water, and still keep your hands dry. I am wearing them in my avatar. They are not the warmest, but I have not had a problem while fishing. When snowmobile, walking, or whatever, I put some big mittens over them. Leather choppers work fine. Another thing that works is a rubber glove like they have at hospitals, and those cotton (or better yet wool) glove liners.

I still like the ice armor gloves but if its way cold then I use the ice armor mittens.

Another thing since I have poor circulation in my hands is a wrist band that holds a hand warmer. I saw these some place then couldn't find them (or maybe I was just dreaming)anyway I made a pair and they help a lot by heating the blood going into your hands. the ones I made just Velcro around the wrist with the hand warmer on the under side of your wrist.
