micro sd card not detected

my sd card will not work in my phone or wifes phone. Does anyone know if it is corrupted or just plain broke? Does anyone know how to get it to work or how to retrieve all the data? Any help is appreciated. Will take it to the geeks at BB if I cant figure it out

Do you have an adapter for your PC/laptop? Usually easier to troubleshoot issues on something that is a bit more open architecture.

The micro SD card came, typically, with a thing that makes it look like a normal SD card (it is a piece of plastic basically). If your PC has a SD slot, you can put it in there (in the adapter). Otherwise you need a SD card reader that plugs into a USB input on the PC.

SD readers are cheap. To see pictures, type "sd card reader" into the search box on amazon.

How big is the SD and how old is the equipment? Some stuff won't read a SD that is too big.

Then when you plug it into the computer, it should show up in explorer like a regular drive, with a letter and all. You should be able to copy files to and from it.

This is what the adapter will look like. It has a small slot in the end that the micro sd card will slide into.

For the most part important stuff should be saved in at least 2 places. There are cheap/free cloud services that will let you store stuff these days.

No I don't. But I would guess it might be expensive to try. How much are you willing to spend? Hundreds? Thousands?

There area some recovery apps that showed up on a google search. The few I looked at were less that $50. Depending on what you have on there it might be worth a shot.

I think google play market offers refunds within 24 hours as well, so if you download a $50 app and it doesn't work for you, you could probably get your money back.

I have a disk that came with my memory card called Rescue Pro. I see you can download it for free. There are probably others available for free or at least a free trial.
