1 rod rule bypass

I doubt 2 lines will double the fish you catch. How many times have you been in a boat with someone, and only one gets fish? Two lines would just let you find what the fish want quicker. Trolling is the only thing you can think of for a use? How about multiple lines for catfish to cover more water? In my case I would cast out a live sucker, and cast all around it. I agree, conservation license should be 2 lines.

Let me fish 2 lines, and take 0 fish. I would be happy with that! I would even pay full price on both of them, fish 2 lines all year, and not keep one fish, and I would be happy with that. We arent all buck fishermen!

I would like to see 2 lines allowed for trolling, and pulling lindy rigs. They talked at one time about making this legal but it didn't pass. We live in the great nanny state where they want to control everything and make all kinds of excuses to do so.

Yep, lots of dumb laws. I like this state, but I could definitely see myself moving to Alaska one day.

I can just see two guys going shore fishing and being able to use two rods each. They wake up early to get to the spot first. one guy casts way to the left the other guy casts way to the right. Now they have 60 yards of shore line that they claim as theres. HEY! You can't fish there I have a line there.

Now we have a war of who can cast the most weight the farthest to steak out fishing zones.

You might want to check the "dumb" fishing regulations in Alaska before moving. It will save yourself some frustration when you get there and find out you can only use 1 rod on inland waters.

Yeah...war...... You should see all the blood spilled on the shores of Wisconsin lakes and rivers from fisherman fighting to the death.... crazy

It happens so often it doesn't even make the news anymore....... LOL!

And for the record, corn works much better than steak to chum fish in smile

Having one line max is not a dumb law, but it doesn't make sense. I couldn't even name all the dumb laws MN has if I tried. Not just fishing, everything. First one that comes to mind is the quick strike rules. While they now allow trebles without spinners, you are allowed a max of 3 hooks, and from the first to last hook has to be less than 9". In a standard quick strike, that gives you 4 1/2" per "leg". Under this rule, many store bought rigs are still considered illegal. To make your own is a pain to cut them so short, especially tying fluorocarbon. Luckily every dnr person I've ran across said they don't care about the rule, and said just stay reasonable. How about the no selling liquor on sunday? While it doesn't affect me, it is just one of a billion stupid laws MN has. While all states have their quirks, you said it yourself, MN is the nanny state.

As someone who lives in a state that all was up to 3 lines. I don't understand the argument . I do use 3 lines trolling walleyes some nights a guy casting off a dock has better luck. Rare I use more than one even ice fishing unless I'm in the shack then 99% of my daily catch is on my jigging rod.... I would like the chance to drag a sucker when casting muskies in MN in the fall....

2 rods fishing carp fishing cats being able to use diferent baits at once. I like the idea but oh well.... if you fight over fishing spots then just quit fishing if someone feels the need to cast a line 100 yards along shore to try and take the area hope he has stronger line or can figure out how to untangle huge birds nest. I simply fish to fish and I prove myself as an angler I work dead places and pull out fish and once that spot is hoarded I move on simple as that.

heres my 4 month olds $.02

Last time I was on lake Pepin I saw a guy in a boat fishing and 4 lines out. As I trolled closer he would bend over and start moving one of his arms up and down. With every downward movement of his arm something would move into view in the front of the boat. My guess was he had a pump and it would blow something upward in the front of the boat. He must have thought it looked like someone was with him.

You could always try this to get around the one line rule and a blow up doll to use the express lane. laugh

I would love to troll two lines. Mn is one of only a few states you can't fish with two.

The thing is, the question is "1 rod rule bypass" not should you be able to fish 2 lines. So, No you can't use 2 lines. There is no bypass. and if I see you doing it I well turn you in. As all GOOD fishermen should.

Well......I was going to say "get a girlfriend" but then the FM pop up ad in the box below showed an ad for the Book of Mormon, so there you go. Convert to Mormonism, rack up a few wives, put 'em in the boat and away you go!
