Iceholes TV Show on NatGeo

I have only watched 10 minutes and am thoroughly disgusted at their portrayal of us. The 8 guys picked for this show are NOT representative of the majority of ice fishermen I have seen.

If I was a New Englander, I'd be pretty upset. They must have picked the 6 biggest morons in the state of New Hampshire at the casting call.

And as a competitive ice fisherman, i don't know whether I am bemused or irked. What those clowns are doing is not competitive tournament fishing. If they wanted to portray competitive ice fishing, they could have profiled a number of venues or events - guys that participate in the NAIFC circuit, Ultimate Panfish League, Team Extreme, Knudson's Midwest Open in Michigan, Perch Pounder in Montana, the list goes on and on. Instead, NatGeo, an otherwise decent cable channel, decided to play down to the lowest common denominator - not really a surprise, it is reality TV, guaranteed to kill brain cells with every viewing.

It's one thing if they want too create a goofy show that evolves around ice fishing that's one thing. But they're not even ice fishing. There is open water everywhere, they're dropping four wheelers in the lake, and it's raining in one episode. I can't decide if it's more pathetic or laughable that their "upgraded condo version" of on ice shack. I have seen portables that have more upgrades.

I wonder if this was the "pilot" they attempted to film on Mille Lacs a couple years ago? Perhaps they couldnt find enough nutjobs here so headed East?

No this was a divergent group. I heard the produce on a podcast. He said he wasted to do a documentary, but didn't have enough money to film that. So nat geo turned it into a reality tv show.

Wow. Forgot to delete the series from the DVR recordings and noticed they had an episode with Minnesota in the title. They came to MN for the Brainerd Jaycees Tourney, and accumulated one missed bite total between the 5 guys. That's riveting TV. Also, they complained about how cold it was compared to out east, and then went spearing. They treated that like it was something no one has ever done before.

Must. Stop. Watching...

I like how they try to create ice fishing "derby's" out east and they come to Minnesota for a real Ice Fishing tournament and the writers/producers force the talent to use the phrase "derby". Just some outstanding reality tv writing there! Not to mention they can't even get a fish to bite and they can't handle the weather. This show needs to be cancelled or use some actual ice fishing talent from Minnesota.
