harvey lee
I went to a location where I harvest my bullheads for flathead fishing today. What a suprise I got, 9 guys shooting carp, gar and numerous other rough fish. I would guess there was at a minimum, 75 dead fish laying onshore where where kids sit to fish from the bank.Stunk so bad I left but before I left I asked a few guys who I saw through the fish on the shore when they were going to remover them, one said, we leave them there.I said very nice, this spot is used alot by little kids to fish from shore and then you leave it like this, way to go and thanks for thinking about others and how you leave the fish there to rot and stink.I also wrote down all the truck license numbers and will give them to the local CO.I do not know what the law is in regards to disposing of shot fish and maybe there is no law but the least they could do is remove them.Very sad people have to leave all these fish on shore to rot where others fish. Sure gives a bad name for bow fisherman to say the least.

Neighbor_guy
If you don't have a place for them, DONT SHOOT THEM!!!!!We get posts like this every year. I hate it. I have actually picked up dead rotted fish to get them away from public view because I don't want to be blamed or glared at for having a bow. Please, Please, pick up after yourselves. If you shoot one have a plan, pig farmer, smoker, garden, NOT THE SHORE.
Ryan_V
Hope you had a good contact number for the c.o. so they could catch them in the act. Those idiots give the rest of us bowfishing guys a bad rap. Yes shooting them is a blast, now is a good time to do it, but as stated, you are required to take them with you when you leave, don't have to eat them (I don't), but have to dispose of them. Not difficult to find a hog farmer who will take the free hog food, or someone with a piece of woods that will allow you to dump them. MJ1657
The clowns that are leaving them would most likely do it if they had a place to get rid of them. Sad that there are pigs like that in our sports.
Dave S
It's Wanton Waste.I let a couple Boy Scout leaders hear about it at the county park on Lake Washington a few years ago because the kids were killing carp, suckers and dogfish and leaving them on shore. motley man
They make great fertilizer, and there are many good recipes for carp and other rough fish. They make great fish patties for sandwiches, just fillet them and course grind them and shape into patties and fry or bake. If you are going to shoot rough fish get a smoker, or use them for something. I agree, call CO and stop this waste !

harvey lee
No, I live in Arlington. Then I more than likely wasted my time contacting the DNR but one has to try. maybe a call to St Paul would be a better avenue.Where one goes down the bank on the east side of the bridge, I would guess there were 20 carp and a couple gar laying right there close to the road rotting. Then down by the edge of the creek on the west side, they are laying everywhere and they stink like crazy.Maybe the coon and fox will eat some of them.Very sad that people do this and think only of themselves. If I have time this Saturday, I am going to go over there and watch them shoot them and then throw them on the bank. Then I am going to call the CO and see if he has anything to say, if not, a call to St Paul will be in order. This is the worst I have ever seen it this time of the year.

Ryan_V
Just to verify Harvey, you need to see them leave without taking their fish. When I shoot, I put them on the bank as well, but when I leave, I grab by handy homemade gaff and load them up. If you call a co and say there are people throwing fish on the bank, there is no case until they actually leave them there, all they have to say is "yes , I'm taking them with me" and the co likely won't have time to sit and wait until they leave to tag them. I applaud you for trying to help catch these idiots, but let's make the most of your effort. See them shoot fish, get a description of the person/clothing/etc, license plate/vehicle description as they leave, and call brett or whoever your co is. Much more likely to get a ticket issued that way. Like I said before, these guys give the rest of us who follow the law a bad name! Any questions, let me know. Good luck sir. They will still end up on somebody's bank. Thanks for taking the initiative and cleaning up someone else's mees. hillbilly...
I know it is... but you know what it's better then having them lying around and they won't reach anybody's bank if tossed back in.. this is a drainage ditch we're talking about if it was a lake it would be a differnt story
Ryan_V
The bottom line is "if you don't have a place to put them, DON'T SHOOT THEM" it's been said over and over in these forums, and is very true. We are all sportsmen and women, play by the rules, or everyone else will suffer! Anyhoo..... where is this place? Sounds like there are fish to shoot, I'd be interested to check it out!
