I will be hunting 510A in Minnesota.

Hopefully the snow goes and the birds show.

I also have a Wisconsin Unit 4 tag for May 7th thru the 13th.

I have been fortunate enough to be on the winning team the past 2 years.

Time for a 3 peat. smile

Team name ideas:

Toms on the Ground

Team Fan Tastic

Gobble Getters

Looking forward to a great season.

I'm glad I made it as a late entry. I kinda like Fan tastic. Thats kind of a new one.

I will be hunting the first week in May in Nebraska and taking my 11yr old daughter on her first hunt. We also plan on hunting here in MN somtime in the last few seasons. Time will tell if I buy a certain week or just get the bow tag and hunt as available.

I took a walk back into the woods yesterday to do some scouting.

Usually by now we are seeing a lot of birds on the property.

I have not seen any yet this year.

There is still quite a bit of snow in the woods but it should be gone shortly with this warm-up.

The good news is there was turkey tracks in the snow. Only a few birds but at least there is some sign.

Hopefully by next Wednesday they will be moving in. smile

hugonian1- i would agree with your scouting report. scouted my spot in the metro on sunday and found 5 different sets of jake/tom tracks in the snow that were in the woods. no sighting or shock gobbles. I know this spot will heat up if anyone needs a spot on our team. I'm hunting 507A. So the metro area is safe for at least till next fall turkey season.

Looks like we still have not heard from flyfisherman and benbosh.

Hopefully they are busy out scouting.

I still have not seen a bird on my property.

No gobbling in the morning.

Getting concerned.

Hopefully this warm weather gets the birds moving around and spreading out.

I week and it is game on.

Sorry I'm late! Been busy between work and the lady friend.. I'll be hunting 503 B with the bow. Started shooting out to 50 yards today but don't plan on shooting anything at that distance. Last night ot permission again on the land that I've taken birds on 5 years in a row out of the 6 years of my turkey hunting career. Will start scouting hard next week so hopefully the birds have moved back in from their wintering areas..

As for a team name I kind of like "Fan-tastic" too.. or maybe "Fan-tastic Toms". Possibly "The Beard Bombers"?

Finally a little life on the property and in the area this morning.

Had a tom all alone out in the field right at sun up. He went into the woods.

I grabbed my box call and talked to him for a couple of minutes. Nice to hear that gobble echoing thru the air.

Then on my way out there was a tom fanned out with several hens just down the road.

Hopefully they are moving into the neighborhood.

This is as late as I can remember to have a sighting.

We should settle on a team name.

Fan Tastic or Fan Tastic Toms ?

Either one works for me..

Will start scouting hard this week on the private ground I hunt as well as my back-up public ground that is right behind my house. I walked down the lane towards the public friday night to look for tracks in the corn field and sit on top of the ridge to listen for gobbles around roost time. Found some fairly fresh tracks and ended up hearing two gobbles off in the distance.

Donbo- can you change our name to "Fan Tastic Toms"

Got out and set up the blind yesterday.

It looks like the turkeys have been rummaging thru the leaves quite a bit.

Still not nearly the activity around our area I am used to.

My hunt starts Wednesday. Hoping the weather & birds cooperate.

my hunt starts friday! we are logging our pine trees, and they normally roost in our pine trees. Not the best timing but this is when the logger could come out. Good thing we got our south end of our property that hold turkeys sometimes.

About 1130 this morning I decided to drive by the property I'll be hunting to see if there were any turkeys out in the open that I could see from the road and sure enough there were 4 hens and 1 tom on the road/ditch/across the road in the field. The tom had about an 8-9 inch beard and looked like fairly decent spurs from what I could tell with the binocs as he crossed the road to boogie into the woods. Will head out tomorrow morning bright and early to listen for gobbles and get a roost pin-pointed

Yesterday morning I headed down there to find the roost, found it and kept check on them until about 845 when they headed onto the neighboring property and the gobbling stopped. Put out the trail cam where a trail on top of ridge T's, near the roost and in the same spot I shot mine last year and got a few pictures of him and 1 hen last night as they headed to roost. Went down there again this morning, they were roosted in the same spot as the morning before. Spotted 2 hens up in the trees but couldn't locate the gobbler but he was gobbling his head off even though it wasn't the best conditions. Cloudy, windy and cool.. Watched them fly down and after fly down didn't hear another gobble.

Decided to come back a few hours later to see if I couldn't find them again. About a half mile away there were 2 hens just off the road along the river. Thought maybe they were hens from a different flock. Tried the locator call all over the property and couldn't get a response. Did a little more scouting, looking for tracks and what not. Headed back to the truck and headed towards home and I spotted the tom and a couple hens just up the river along the field edge heading back towards the property I hunt.

Well I got out for a couple of hours this morning before I had to head in to work.

Not a gobble. frown

I know there is at least 1 tom in the area with a single hen.

We got around 4" of snow so the landscape will look a little different in the morning.
