COSMOS

Never ceases to amaze me the narrow minded beliefs that some insist on perpetuating when so much information is available at their fingertips.....Just a small amount of research on DNA alone would likely cause a near mental breakdown or at least nausea and fits to those that don't believe in all this scientific data......Ignorance is such a terrible thing to waste!

The show ended on the possibility that every black hole in this universe is a big bang for another.

Which ties in to one of the most interesting hypothesis out there.

Cosmological Evolution.

Its a very interesting attempt to answer why we see a certain set of natural constants/values rather than another.

In short shorthand ...

Every black hole produces a new universe

Every new universe has slightly different natural constants. (mutations)

The selection process rewards those that produce more black holes.

Its an accident the same values can lead to us and what we see,

Consider the following ... test your math

You are walking at a constant speed down an expanding hallway.

Every meter of the hallway grows by 10% per meter per sec.

You travel at 1 meter per sec.

If the hallway is 5 meters long, you will arrive in 7 secs.

Your point of departure will be almost 10 m away. A 2 fold increase.

If the hallway is 6 meters long, you will arrive in 9 secs.

Your point of departure will be almost 15 m away. A 2.5 fold increase.

If the hallway is 11 meters long, you will NEVER arrive.

In the same way, knowing how long light has travelled to reach us,

doesn't really bring home how far away it was when first emited,

or how far away that coordinate is now.

So ....

In the case of the galaxy mentioned tonight whose light has taken 13.3 billion light years to reach us we believe

It was just 40 Million (not billion) LYA when the light was emitted

That coordinate is 45 billion LYA today.

The universe has expanded over 1000 fold since the light was emitted !!

Any photon begining its journey today, from a distance of around 7 billion LYA,

will NEVER reach us.

The first time I understood this I was stunned.

The observable universe is about 47 billion LY in every direction

but

It will fade from view eventually, never to be "heard" from again.

Great imagination, how about some facts other than simple mathematics. Cosmic evolution, sounds like fantasy land to me. You're telling me you believe that a black hole is the end of life yet the beginning of life with each having a "Big Bang" yet the notion of a heaven is childish. I think we've found the real kool aid drinkers...

If that's the best hour of programming (attempting to pass ideas as fact) you've seen you're a very persuadable person, gullible.

Black holes are mysterious. Neil Tyson in the program said its speculation that black holes could be holes to other universes. he never said that scientist believe that but theorize. With the theory of relativity, space time can be warped with gravity. The higher the gravity the more space time can be warped. However, since we have never been able to observe any thing with that much gravity its all speculation. The point is there is so much more in the universe we don't understand and yet to be discovered...that was what neil was insinuating. black holes do exist but what happens beyond the event horizon is unknown

YAWN

I believe this is the first mention of heaven in the thread. laugh

I certainly haven't mentioned it. In any thread. Ever.

Proof of alternative realties ? Other universes ?

He must have seen it somewhere. laugh

Or is there a simpler explaination ?

We'll be talking about science here DrJuice.

Your not required to attend.

So DrJill, science to you is not reality, rather the fascination with imagination. Astrology is a complete joke, very rarely is something ever proven factual.

"We know more about space than the depths of the Oceans"

No, people (Speculative scientists) make assumptions about space and lobby to pass them off as factual while biologists continue to search for facts.

DrJill, Take your pompous attitude somewhere else. Lame.

Bobby, does hitting the enter button multiple times so your post takes up more space somehow make you feel more important? Or better yet, when you come on and have zero input other than a vague remark or trolling comment, does that make you feel superior?

Im trying to understand if you have a comment based on the topic or are just too stupid to come up with one, hence the above post from you. Im leaning to the second answer because, what dont I understand? The fact that Astronomy (maybe you didnt catch the "Astrology" joke reference) is based largely on ideas not facts. Yet you, Bobby, are so largely against believing in a religion which is based on the same thing, ideas not necessarily facts.

Please go back and ponder if the Matrix is a real thing.

your version of "ideas" seems to be any collections of facts you don't understand. If it don't sound believable to you, then it ain't believable and you've got bridges to sell. Anybody that says otherwise is lame, stupid, pompous, tooting their own horn, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.

Statements like this

The fact that Astronomy is based largely on ideas not facts.

are patently false. Where do you even come up with this stuff? Were you home schooled or something?

Astronomy is a lot of observation just beyond earths atmosphere. If someone wants to attack science on ideas, astronomy isn't a good place to start. Maybe Dr Juice meant Cosmology but even that has observation from different instruments(cosmic background radiation for example)but deals with alot of math at the same time. Cosmology is the study evolution of the universe. Cosmology is the field that made the current break through with inflation theory. You got a problem with what science says about the origin of the universe...here's your the field you want to criticize but good luck with that

I think a lot of the skepticism comes from a lack of understanding the concept of mathematical proofs. Couple that with not understanding what peer reviewed studies are/mean... recipe for disaster. It opens the door to statements equating scientific principles to belief in religious figures.

Tyson says it best about deniers

"science is not there for you to cherry pick…You can decide whether or not to believe in it but that doesn’t change the reality of an emergent scientific truth."

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
