I cant speak for which one works better, as i have not used the copter, but i can tell you that fishmor's "slusher" works as good as you would want it to.

It doesnt float, as it has a cross bar that also serves as a piece of material to stand on, to keep the slusher centered when you go down the hole and out the bottom. This cross bar stops the unit from slipping down the hole if it comes off the drill, as there is a nut at the top.

it will go as deep as an auger with 1 extension.

Has anyone tried one of these in a 10" hole? They say it works fine but I have reservations it won't work as well in the 10" versus the 8".

Do you need a 1/2 inch drill or would a 3/8 work ?

the copter says 1/2 inch drill and the slusher say 3/8 drill.

Sounds like a great idea, and was going to buy one until I had an idea to use what I already have, an Ice Gator electric powerhead with forward and reverse.

When I'm done drilling my next fishing hole, I'm going to throw it into reverse and push the slush back down.

Will let you know how it works!!

I would think anyone using a cordless drill could do the same thing.

I know Ice Gator was originally advertised to be used like that.

The Slush Copter will use only a 1/2 inch drill. I tried my 3/8 inch and it barely fit but I would not use that sized drill.

I found a Ryobi 1/2 inch 18volt rechargable drill on the big autcion site for $39.99. Now, maybe this brand is not the best but this the amount of money spent, it will be only used for the Slush Copter 90% of the time so it should last for quite some time.

In regards to a 10" hole, I have not used it in one but I would think from what I saw, it would work fine in either a 8 or 10".

When I put this in my 8" hole, I could not believe the turbulance it caused in the hole when I had it running.

I started out about a foot under the top edge of the ice and it sucked everything down the hole and it was very, very clean. I thought if you were to start it with it right at the top of the water, it would throw water all over the inside of the house with that much speed with it turning that fast.

They work just as well in 10 in hole as an 8. As far as Ryobi, I've been absolutely 100% satisfied with all the different tools I have for the system. Unbeatable price too. They've built a lot of tree stands as well as fish houses over the years with zero problems. The new little air nailer is phenomenal, used it for all my new wheel house interior this last fall. I've thought about better cordless tools but this stuff never breaks, and I've had some since it came out 9-10 years ago.

Well, up to this thread I had never heard of a Slush Copter and after reading everyones positive reviews, I just received mine today via UPS. Looks like a trip is in line for tomorrow!

Good to hear Hawg about the Ryobi, I got it for a great price. Felt I did not need a big brand name for using it for a slush Copter.

I use an electric hammer drill for mine, I got the drill cheap from a freight tool store in the harbor. I always have my generator along, this way I know I will have enough power.

I have used it on 10" holes as well and it worked just the same as in a 8" hole.

Finally got a chance to get out. LOTS of ice and this little tool worked as advertized in a 10" hole. Simply amazing! Saved a lot of back breaking work hauling slush out of the house!

My buddy was dog tired after he got done setting up his house and I didn't even break a sweat after the holes were drilled. A big thumbs up for this product!
