buzbunni
Curious to hear stories of anyone that may have been out in a soft-side portable today? I've done it before in winds like this, but couldn't muster up the intestinal fortitude to get it done 2day. Was gonna take my buddy and his kiddos, but decided to wait for a warmer/calmer day. Gettin' old. Nice day to have a hard-side for sure. There's just sumthin' awesome about being all toasty warm in a shack angling away, while outside is freezing cold and blizzardy. Just one of the reasons I love the hardwater. Anyone out 2day that didn't get blown away? Catch anything? -Have fun, and be safe out there. CAMAN
Yup, on Tonka in my Otter Cottage. Couldn't stand or it would blow away. The Marcum was lit up like a Christmas tree, threw the tackle box at them but couldn't get anything to bite hard enough to hook em. Packed up after 3 hours and when I poked my head out it was a white-out, could barely see any other shacks or cars that were around me. hamms-scooter
Now that's ice fishing! Wish they were biting for ya though
Chad Holst
I was on Plantagenet several years ago when there was a huge blow. I was determined to fish. No snow on the ice. I ended up tying the house to the truck, so I could set it up. Then ice anchored the house in, then moved the truck right up next to the house to act as a wind break. I can't say for sure, but i'm pretty sure the truck was closer to the house when I left!
nofishfisherman
Had plans to go out with a buddy but ended up calling it off as the winds kept picking up.Of course we didn't tell the wives that. Instead we just met up and had a couple beers at the local watering hole instead.

Carl Bjorgen
Went out Saturday and Sunday. On the lake by 8am both days. Saturday was windy from the get-go. Tent was just flapping like crazy. Got a couple decent bluegills and one bass about 2 lbs. Left after 2 hours because it was really rough out there.Sunday's weather report was ugly so there was no plan to even go. After shoveling the driveway it seemed the wind wasn't even blowing and it was about 5 degrees. Not too bad. Decided to head out for a couple hours just to get one in. Fishing was slow, couple nice perch and the others kept scattering when some pike and musky cruised through, saw them on them camera. They weren't interested in the little jig and waxie, they were feasting on the perch. It started to get really windy after a couple hours, and that was the cue to pack it up. Fishing was pretty good though
Scott O.
Had my Clam Legend Thermal out Sunday for a tournament with winds blowing in different directions. Put up the tent and it handled well till a 55mph gust blew across the ice and upended the whole setup while I was sitting in it, knocking me out of the seat and sending me flying over my hole. Held onto it for dear life so it wouldn't blow across the lake. My fishing buddy said it was a site to see, as all he saw was my upside down shack with my feet hanging out being dragged about 20 feet across the ice before it stopped. The rest of the tournament was spent without the tent up needless to say. Despite this incident, the shelter was not damaged. There were no poles bent, no tears in the material, nothing other than my surprised look at what had just transpired. The Legend is definitely a tough flip over.
