Yeah Polaris quit making the 500 in EFI, you only get the carb now. Skip the 500 and get the 550, its an improvement in many ways.

Yeah I thought something like that. I just wasn't going to start an argument as I was looking at a brand new 500 Polaris, Honda, and Can-am in October and the salesman told me the Polaris did not come in EFI.

True, Polaris doesn't even produce a true 500 any more..they're now a 550 or 570 and are available in EFI if he wanted to buy new.

In the original post he mentioned that he'd be looking at a used model, so a 500 with EFI would be an option for him.

I have both a Yamaha 450 and a 700 grizzly. Although not Popo's, I prefer the 450 for everything except drag racing and plowing. More nimble with smaller size, costs less and sips gas by comparison. The larger 700 has also gotten stuck in the mud more often than the smaller machine as well. How much plowing do you plan on vs other uses for the machine? The post said limited interest in trail riding, but having the ATV sitting in my garage changed how much I thought I would use it.

If plowing is the focus, go big! Size does matter in some places in life wink

I bought a honda 200 s atc last fall and it was great for deer hunting and ice fishing all season so far. It is light weight but powerful and I can go anywhere in the woods I want. All for 500 bucks. I used have a 2003 arctic cat 400 gear shift model and it plowed snow great. I sold it and have snow blower and 3 wheeler now very happy
