Mike Stark
Ice is starting to form up in Northern MN and it won't be long before people are walking out on first ice. This is an old video that a lot of you have already seen but it never hurts to watch it again.

JSK76
So if you fall through and gasp underwater and get water in your lungs do you drown even if you pop back up? I heard you will without help of someone pushing the water out of your lungs but not sure if it's true.

Twins Guy
these are the next two videos in the series-part two applies to immersion and survival in a wilderness setting or where there is no one to help rescue.

mrpike1973
i have broke through 2 times the first time was awful but i had those picks with me if not for that i wouldnt be here. after that i wear a summer mesh life jacket under my coat especially at first ice. i know there is better on the market. it was early ice about 6-8 inches of ice my spud went through. before i could turn around, in i went however because of the jacket. i popped right up head never went under which gave me time to think not panic. grabbed the picks and got out. on a side note if you ever go in as soon as you get out get your keys out of your pocket. a old man told me this once and he was right by the time i got to my car my pants were frozen couldnt get in my pockets. hands hardly worked at all. i had them out so i was able to start the car warm up change in some better clothes. get home warm up and be sick for 2 days but i'm alive and if this can help any one all the better. also take a buddy with i cant stress that enough especially at 1st ice

mainbutter
Anyone here wear those water-activated self-inflating life jackets while they are out on the ice?
Brad B
Anyone here wear those water-activated self-inflating life jackets while they are out on the ice? what I have heard about this type of life jacket is that they won't inflate properly in that cold of water. also if they do or you use the manual inflating ones they get so big when inflated that it hinders your ability to get out of the water. another suggestion would be to check out the new Clam life jacket. it is designed specifically for ice fishing. it also has a special pocket for holding ice picks.http://clamoutdoors.com/ice_armor/outerware/ia-jacket-parkas/life-vest.html

Mr.Seaguar
If you are a duck hunter you swear a bunch, climb out, get laughed at by your buddies and keep hunting. Icefishermen yell for help and start going hypothermic.

Like a duck hunter has never drowned or frozen to death. In fact 3 people in wright county had to be rescued out duck hunting 2 weeks ago.I hope going through is something you do not have to experience, I don't wish it on anyone. Mr.Seaguar
I knew duck hunters would find that true and amusing. It happens to all of us.
