Usually this conversation doesn't start until ice fishing. Yesterday I went pheasant hunting at a couple public hunting lands. The first thing I did was pick up empty pop cans and candy wrappers off the ground in the parking area. I know there are no garbage cans, but please, take your trash with you. It doesn't belong in the back of my truck. Also saw about 3-4 dead coots that someone shot and left. If you shoot something, take it with you, please. It's the bad few that give the rest of us a bad name.

I can tell you this: junk, broken bottles, tire ruts and wrecked fences have led to more land being closed than most guys would believe. Watching it happen here and NoDak and saw it gradually close off hundreds of square miles of ranches in Montana. I don't know of a piece of land that is not posted within a thirty mile radius of our place.

And yes; that included our place.

Check out the lake ice after Feb, 28.

I have never seen so much junk, filled a shopping bag one day in north side. the next day snow covered the lake, could not walk out as there were holes in ice due from pieces of tar paper, plastic and piles of sand.

We were grouse hunting and scouting public land for deer hunting this week. In 3 days we got 7 grouse out of 11 seen. We were seeing too many soda and beer cans scattered along roads. Portable tree stands were already in just about every location we checked. A few camps were already set up. One camp was set up in the middle of a secondary road so as to block access to everything behind it.

It is very sad how some treat our public hunting grounds, just like the lakes and landings.

PIGS.

I met you on lake washington last winter Harv. Watched you drop every cigarrette you had on the ice...I let it go, but cig butts on the ground is a big pet peeve of mine and i smoke a lot.

Mine go in my pocket.

Reading the outdoor news cuffs and collars I'm not so sure today it's just a few bad eggs, quite a few bad eggs and we'd all hate to know what goes un-reported. 1 of the most well respected persons in town bow hunts where I get to rifle hunt, you bet heaping mound of shell corn 12 yards from his perch. I agree though that way too many people just don't care, once they drive off it's probably more dump thrown out the window later, especially once it's dark. Anyone need a used TV ? Got 9 of them in my ditch with a gently used mattress mad

as a non smoker, it bugs me as well to see a pile of butts on the ice, on land, flying out a car window.... as was stated above, they don't think they are doing anything wrong, because years ago, that was an accepted practice, but certainly no longer is.

I can think of 4 times this year where my cig butt either ended up in the lake or flew out the window. All 4 times were accidents. I smoke over a pack a day, and all of them make it to the trash. The fact that i can remember those 4 that didn't should say something.

I can also admit that i wasn't always that good. (Everyone was a stup'd kid at some point) But the last few years i've become a better sportsman and intern reduced my littering to nil.

I see alot of smokers do the same thing and dont think they are doing anything wrong. Not only on the ice but driving down the road. Please throw your waste in the trash

As a long time runner (alongside roads) I can tell you its not just the butts out the window, its also the empty pack, and then the lighter itself.
