Mn red clothing regs

Recommended Posts

page 31:

Deer Season: One visible portion of a cap and outer clothing above the

waist, excluding sleeves and gloves, must be blaze orange when hunting

or trapping during any open season where deer may be taken by firearms...

What does 'one visable portion of a cap' mean? Is that a change? Thought it use to be just cap, not one visable portion.

edit: last year's regs read

unless the visible portion of your cap and outer clothing above the waist, excluding sleeves and gloves, is blaze orange.

You are definitely not alone. Many folks on here were upset that you didn't have to have an orange cap on, you could have no cap at all. Now it looks like only one part of a visible portion needs to be orange. I liked the old rule better.

I will say this, when I have grouse hunted in heavy foilage, if your partners are wearing a orange cap, it is sure visible when one is walking in the woods.

I think the orange cap is a great safety item, at least for walking in heavy head high cover.
