I will be out this weekend learning how to fish left handed. I gave myself a right shoulder ac seperation three weeks ago. Surgery this coming Tuesday. One last time out in the boat for the year. Some of you probably know I live for fall fishing and I'm feeling pretty defeated. It's also going to wipe out my bass boat fund. Anyway... the rain won't stop me.

Haha, thanks Juan, well it didn't happen today. I got one that was just under 20 and a bunch of small ones. I was limited to finesse tactics on the deep weedline. I got bit off 7 times! I wanted to go shallower really bad but I was stuck using a fairy wand with 6lb test. It was great to be out on the water though. Maybe tomorrow I will get a big one.

Casting left handed with a spinning rod really didn't take that long to get used to. no need to be super accurate out on the weedline.

And here I was bummed out that the wife decided to take this week off of work to do some couple stuff. The forecast sounds great for the next week. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

No bass worth taking a pictures of yesterday.

Ruddy Duck fished the same lake, we chatted for awhile.

The Pike have been obliterating buzzbaits though.

I went all summer without catching a single Pike on this lake and in the last 8 times I have fished it I average 5 Pike. Most of them have been over 25" and 13 have been over 30".

This was the first fish of the morning yesterday. Hit boat side and scared the bleep out of me.

The buzzbait I have been using finally fell apart yesterday. So it is 9:15am and I am debating about running to Cabelas which is on the way to the lake, grabbing 4 or 5 buzzbaits so I have backups. Or staying at home and spending time with my wife and kids.

Nice chatting with you RRR! I caught 2 dinks, 2 Lake specials and a pike after I talked to you. Mostly on the lipless crank. Oh yeah, and the sunny I speared with the lipless crank!

I went this morning from about 8-9:30am and ended up with 7 bass and a pike. It started raining and I had no gear, so I bailed after getting rained on for awhile. The pike was shallow on a DTFat1, but the bass were in the weeds in that 7-8ft range. They all came on a lipless crank. They were in the 14-17in range, with 3 of them at 17 inches. Nothing huge, but still a fun morning. They sure do put up a fight. My darn camera on my phone is shot, so wasn't even able to take a pic of the 17's.

JA, bummer about your surgery. You could always try a cane pole, that might still work! Just put some heavy braid on and swing em in.

Was on the big pond with the family this weekend. Of course when I have a four day weekend it's the crappiest weather since last spring. I did manage to get out for a few hours but fishing was tough. Two fish and two times on the lake. I fished about a total of 5 hours. I did loose 3 or 4 though. Fortunately one of the two fish I caught was nice one. My board was tilted a little but this one went just shy of 21". It didnt have its fall belly on it yet though. It weighed in at 4lbs 9oz. Caught her on a lipless crank. The pond should start going good in the next week or two. Water temps were at 57.

This one was only 19.5" but just scratched 5lbs. It has been feeding for sure. My best quality fish of the weekend.

This one got my heart racing. I thought I had an 8lber for a minute.

Hooked in the mouth. Pretty cool coloring.

Got out Saturday for 7 hours.. Things seemed to change. Didn't get a lot of bites but when I did they hammered the bait -- caught 11 bass and 5 northerns. The willow-leaf spinner bait seemed to work best with a jig second. The top water bite (frog and buzzbait) was really slow for me -- I spent too much time trying to make that work..

One good fish I got (20.25")had a couple of interesting stories about it. First, I had really no action for the first 90 minutes of fishing shallow. Moved to deaper structure and started to work some rocks with a Northstar Black Series jig with a Rage Craw. Started deep and was working shallower -- half way down the structure I had a serious hit -- this fish started run away with it and my rod loaded up and I set the hook and I missed, pitched back again and felt him pick it up and went to set the hook and nothing. Tried some more and no action so I started to work down the reef again about 10 minutes later I made a long cast back to where I was and sure enough he picked it up and I set the hook. It jumped and I got pretty excited I thought it could be a PB. Got it in the boat, put it the live well and I went to get everything set up to take a picture on the bump board etc... Well, I couldn't find my phone, I knew I had it and thought after tearing the bat apart that it must of fell in the water. Now feeling pretty down, I figured I could fish for another hour and then I was on my way to T-Mobile. 45 minutes later I went to sit on my pedestal seat and there was my phone (classic bone head move!!!). Of course, I had already released the fish so no picture but the day was certainly looking up! It was a fun fish though but not a PB.

I got out twice this weekend. Water temps were 60-63*F. Biggest fish of the weekend was 18" and starting to fatten up a bit. I had a tough time patterning the fish, some were in less than 3' of water hitting frogs and buzzbaits and some were in 12' of water hanging out in the greenest weeds we could find. I imagine the fishing should get better in the next week or two.

My buddy got better quality than me. First bass was a 19"er and skinny, then followed up with an 18"er, 17"er another 18"er and 17"er along with some smaller bass and pike.

I caught small bass except a 17"er and bunch of pike. One pike was nice. Rained a couple of times but not too bad.

Shallow (pads), mid range weeds and weededge, kinda all over.

Crankbaits, jigs, spinnerbaits and topwater all produced. No real pattern for my boat just fun fishin'.

Got out twice this weekend.

Saturday we fished two lakes in the afternoon/evening. Bite was really slow on the first. Ended up with a 4.5, a 4, and a dink. Bailed on that lake after just under 2 hours. Water was really dirty, almost didn't even put the boat in when i saw the water at the access.

Second lake was a little better. Fished it for around 2 hours and ended up with 15-20 fish for 3 guys, mostly 2-3 lbers with one over 4. Got all our fish saturday on jigs or plastics. It was cold, windy, and rainy pretty much the whole time.

Sunday I made it out by myself in the morning and fished till 1. Rainy/misty and windy most of the morning. Fish were on fire though. Biggest fish went 5 9, 5 5, 5 4, 4 12, 4 9. Also caught 4 other fish over 4 and a handful of 3's. Numbers weren't huge but average size was the best of the year. Biggest 5 fish all came on a buzz bait, and they absolutely crushed the bait. Also got some nice fish on a medium diving crank bait, and a jig/plastic. Bite was hot until the sun started coming out around 1 in the afternoon.

most of them came from 5-9 feet of water where the thick matted stuff starts thinning to a little more sparse. The big ones were tucked up in the clumps that were off the main mats of thick weeds.
