bucket list

How many lakes or bodies of water are on your list that you seriously want to fish before the opportunity is gone? My list is quite short, but then I'm easy to please. I can think of only 6 or 7 that would make me feel bad if I never make it there.

I fished all the Minnesota and Canadian lakes I wanted to as well as some in the southern and western US and Alaska. I have now moved on to salt and beyond. Left on my "must do" list is a trip to the Oregon for white sturgeon and a return trip to Costa Rica. I'd also like to spend 3 months fishing the Gulf of Mexico. A couple fun trips I'd like to take would be to the Illinois River to samurai Asian Carp, and I'd also like to shoot an alligator with one of those swamp guys.

Man oh man my list is never-ending.......

I'd have to live to 200 to fish 'em all smile

Finally knocked off Devil's Lake and Vermilion this year, both are awesome fisheries that lived up to the hype!

So many lakes.............and so little time frown

Right now we are working in Riverdale, ND. I get jealous seeing all the boats out on Sakakawea........

But Nhamm, this is a "bucket list". A list of places, things, people, etc., you'd hope to do before you "kick the bucket". Doesn't matter what stage of life you're in. You gotta have a list.

I'd like to do Great Slave Lake and catch an absolute pig of a Lake Trout. I'd also be extremely pleased to do Lac Seul and catch the biggest Musky anyone has ever even imagined.

I could probably come up with a long list given time, but I suppose I'd also love to catch a behemoth Largemouth Bass in some southern impoundment that all the pros glean thru each weekend.

Oh boy, where do I begin? I want to go to Lake Superior for salmon and trout fishing, go to Rainy Lake for sturgeon fishing, and catch a muskie at Lake Vermilion. I also want to go down to Texas and catch a man-sized alligator gar, go down to Florida and catch a tarpon, go to the Amazon river and catch the man-eating Piraiba catfish (I blame River Monsters), and I think that's it for my Lake Superior-sized bucket list!

My bucket list is more specie oriented than bodies of water but the closest stuff to home would be for ice fishing lake trout - Apostle Islands; Whitefish Bay (LOW); Crow; etc... Somewhat common in some peoples eyes but I haven't been to them yet and they're attainable so they're on the list!

After that, I'd love to go back to Kotzebue, AK and float the Noatak River. Get me some of that fantastic trout and grayling action while looking for a moose to eat! But the biggest draw for the freshwater side would be getting into some of the big Sheefish in the area and maybe score some nice pike. A month on the water might be just enough - per year! grin

The saltwater list is short and southern oriented. Tarpon and Marlin.

Most of the places on my list are regional, and I've been fortunate enough to fulfill several of them in the last several years (lake of the woods, chippewa flowage, chequamegon bay). I only have a couple canadian lakes, Nipigon and Lac Seul. Sturgeon Bay is probably my next most likely to be nixed off the list smile Sakakawea is on the list also.

It depends, but in general, I can never stop finding new lakes I have to try. For big pike trips upper red with jonny p., the taltson river, rainy lake, great slave lake, reed lake, its endless. For some reason I love fishing little "hidden jems", and going where most fisherman dont think to try. I have yet to find a small pond with better fishing than most lakes, but it sure is fun trekking off the beaten path, and catching fish when your not even sure fish can survive in it.
