Advice for Buying a Used Side by Side

My dad is looking for a side by side and has a limited budget. Are the older rangers with 500 sufficient for plowing or should he get a bigger motor? Thanks.

The older 500 Rangers will work just fine for plowing. In low Range they work great for pushing snow and are actually pretty impressive. Nice thing is that they are so manuverable and can get into a lot of the smaller spaces that a bigger vehicle with a plow can't.

Don't overlook the other brands of UTVs on the market. You may find a Kawasaki or Yamaha to be a bit more reliable.

Stay away from Joyner. They made a big push awhile ago and they never caught on. If you're thinking knock-off Kymco and CF moto would be the only way to go and even then I wouldn't get that old of one. Personally I would look for an older ranger or rhino. You may have problems but at least you'd have some dealer support.

engine noise on the Rhino is unbearable IMO.
