Found this yesterday. I this Chicken of the Woods?

Chix are more of a fall shroom.. they should not be out yet as far as I know. and the pict is not very good and the color seems off.. I would say no.. but could be wrong.

That is not chicken of the woods. It's most likely a pheasant back mushroom, also known as dryad's saddle. They are edible, but just barely in my opinion due to how tough they are. I don't bother to pick them. If you do want to try eating it, though, don't take my word for it as there is no way to tell 100% what it is from a picture over the internet.... All I can give you is my best guess.

Indeed a pheasant back... Nice one at that.

Chickens are not a fall only mushroom, they come out in June, and flush when the conditions are right all the way through the fall. People are finding flushes of COW now in the Metro.

Definitely a pheasant back. Chicken of the Woods are bright orange.

THey are not a dall only. I just picked a few pounds of them this past weekend in SE MN.

.......not like any I have ever seen. They should be out soon, if not already. When you do actually find them you will be a lot more sure. Find some oaks and you will find some chickens

I went out for a few miles today looking for some 'shrooms. Found nothing but mosquito bites. Lots and lots of mosquito bites.
