Eric Wettschreck
I'll be replacing my water heater soon. After all the storm damage here in SW MN I'll also be doing some roof work. If I put in a high efficiency water heater I can remove my chimney while I'm doing the roof work. Kind of a good side to a bad situiation.Anyhoo, anyone out there have one of these units? If so, do you like them or are they a pain? Thanks.
mwal
We have one in our cabin it is about 6 years old. We got it due to space requirements so far we like it you can run a shower while dishwasher is running no problem. The only thing to get used to is it takes longer than standard water heater to get hot water at faucet as you are purging cold water out of the pipe instead of the water in the pipe being warm. That time is totally dependent on how long the hot water runs are etc. So far we have had no troubles with it and would replace it if it fails.Mwal
PurpleFloyd
The ones I am familiar with are the Tagaki units. I don't personally have one but I do know several people who have had them and say they are pretty bulletproof if you have water that doesn't have a lot of calcium carbonate in it. These people had tropical fish hatcheries where they were doing lots of water changes on a daily basis and the Tagaki units were the only things that would give them the volume of water they needed at the temperatures they required to keep the fish happy. nobody05
I have got 2 Rinnai Heaters. One Condensing and Once non condensening. Eitherway they use their own chimney. Great heaters no problems what so ever. Only Con is it does take abit more time to get hot water at the tap. I would never put a tank system in again.
