tisosy11
What type of snowmobile would you recommend getting to pull an X2? I’d imagine I have roughly 300 pounds in the fish house when I put all the gear on top. I currently use a 2002 indy 500, but am worried about pushing it too hard. I plan on putting the auger mount on the snowmobile this spring as well as downsize my portable modifications to get the weight down. Don’t need all the bells and whistles now that I have the wheelhouse.
BoxMN
Heck, I'd think you should be able to pull that all day long with your 500. Maybe if you are going through deep stuff all the time, it might get tough getting started with all the weight, but really how many of us are going through deep stuff all the time? I have an old 400 that pulls double duty sleds, and also a 600 triple, and while the 600 works great, so does the 400. Good luck!
LittleHuck
300# worth of fishing equipment in a sled is no real chore for almost any machine.
tisosy11
Thanks for the response. Maybe I'll just buy another spare belt and toss in the fish house and be good to do!
Meat-Run
You're definitely not short on power but more on traction, a longer track may be the only thing I would consider like a 136" and you can get extensions for your sled if you want to go that far. Now if you plan to go to Canada laker fishing I suggest the longer track and deeper lug no less then 1.5 -2.0".Good luck,MR
coombia21
I run a 2008 f6 that has a 128" track and the biggest load I have pulled with it is 2 otter lodges, and a resort that were all fully loaded. The sled performed perfect and did anything I asked of it. For me no need to go bigger than that, I had an 800 crossfire and loved the sled but didn't need two and the f6 was better on the trail, but the crossfire was a much better sled for fishing. CaptainMusky
If you are going to use the machine solely for pulling your house, you may want to consider gear changes. They are designed for riding, not pulling. If you were to have something like a bearcat, they have much better setup for towing, but you could easily swap out gears on what you have and get a better ratio and not be prone to heating up your belt. bigblue
I am running a Skandic 550f on a rev-xu platform 2 speed trans with reverse 20 " wide track 154 " long with 1 and a half inch paddles . It's a 2 up with double auger racks a cargo box and a winch and spare fuel tank . Roller-skis and scratchers .hauls a JM Thermal etc. It steers like a tank but will run anywhere and pull most anything .
leech~~
I pull a Clam Voyager behind a Polaris 550 fan with 136" track which has never had any power issues.
