Humminbird Side Imaging??

I'm thinking about buying a new Humminbird fishfinder with side imaging. Anyone have one of these units, use it for muskie fishing? Is it worth the money?

Good stuff, well worth the money. I've had an 898 for two years. Go to BBC image interpretation for some good learning. Lots of previous threads about lowrance vs hbird imaging too if you search.

Fishing where the fish are puts fish in the boat. Side imaging certainly helps find fish!

Lots of ways to use it. I really like it for trolling, and knowing when to make those casts deeper instead of just to the weedline every time.

I have a 798 and I never use the SI or DI. However HBird makes a great depth finder and I love it.

I have a 858 and 898 networked and have to say I love them. They have put additional fish in my boat for sure which is better then I can say about a lot of other expenditures I've made.

Not a bird, but I have an HDS 7 and love the side/down imaging. It's a pretty sweet way to cruise a huge flat and mark clumps of cabbage, rocks, etc.

They are great units. I've got a 788 and a 798SI and the side imaging is great for mapping out scattered weed patches and inside turns, it really helps you narrow down your time. I'm planning on doing more open water fishing early this year so we'll see if I can get it dialed in to find baitfish. For side imaging get the bigger screen if you can afford it.

Lowrance is doing a whole bunch of carp with Wifi in the near future. Were going to see an explosion in wifi capabilities in fishing electronics in the next 5-10 years.
