DRH1175
I have a MarCum LX-5 that works great, I love it. However ever since I bought it about 5 years ago. the bottom occaisonaly will start to flicker by about 4 feet. And the Motor gets loud. I called them and they said $80 and they can fix it. Hmm... I know it is out of warranty but I just feel that isn't right. I didn't bring it in right away because I just thought maybe I had a bad battery or that was normal. Well after reading about that that was a flaw in some of them. Either Timing or bad motor I thought I would see if they could fix it. My cousin had a issue with one of his old FL-8's when it was 10 yrs old that was his fault and Vexilar took care of him. I am not upset either way, however I just hate to have to pay $80 to get something fixed that has happened since day one. What have others found with Customer service. hnd
thats what the warranty period is for. i don't have a problem paying for something if i broke it or if i lazily let the warranty expire. vexilar usually will fix most things without charge i've seen but i had a guy locally get charged 100 bucks to fix his 18. humminbird and marcum will most of the time fix it for free too. just have to hammer on them a little bit more. i would call again and work on them. tsande00
I dropped a chisel on the face of my Marcum rendering it useless. Dropped it off at Marcum and they shipped it back to my door free of charge. Tough to beat that. Customer for life.
CaptainMusky
IMO, if it had been doing it since day one its your fault for not bringing it in while under warranty. To expect it to be covered now is expecting a lot. I realize you said you were fine with it, but by posting this you obviously are not.If Vexilar repaired something outside of warranty thats great, but who knows how expensive of a repair it actually was. thatoneguy
My Vexilar has never had even the smallest problem, so I've no idea what their customer service is like.
ozzie
I have used both customer services from these companies and they both stood behind their products and fixed the issues. Good people at both places very friendly
Ferny
Three of us bought Vexi FL-18 at the same time. Turned out after using them ahwile they all had the same bottom jumping problem. We brought all three in and they fixed them while we waited. Top notch service, although it would have been better if they didn't have the bug in the first place.Ferny
pathogen
I've dealt with both and got top-of-the-line service from both. No complaints with either of them.
EBass
Never had to deal with Vexilar until I drove over my FL-18. I paid for that one, but I got it back the same day I dropped it off. (Motor Clinic) Good people over there.
DRH1175
Thanks, well I will go in person, maybe they will change their tune. If not oh well... My fault I guess. I do love my LX-5 a very good product.
Agronomist_at_IA
I've never had a problem with my Vex FL 20, but I called in after having it a few years since I smashed the tackel box when i stepped on it. Vex sent me a new one free of charge. No complaints here.
