MNCPRGUY
I just set my new house up in the garage. Can anyone tell me if a little sag in the roof poles is normal? They just don't seem quite as tight as those on the sides. I have never noticed this in any of the 3 that I looked at before buying, but it jumped right out at me when I set it up. mww24
In my hub there is no sag. Not the same model though

Myrt
same here...more on one side..not so much on the other. If I pull down a with a little pressure with one finger on the sagging rod...the roof will collapse...not near as tight as the sides...wasn't sure about this as I am not used to hubs...doesn't seem right...?? and what I mean by sagging is there is room between the material and the rod, which I thought would be tight to the material like the sides? Brad B
MNCPRGUY,clean out your PM box. I spoke with a clam rep(Matt Johnson) here at the Blaine Hard Water Expo. He will probably be coming on here or sending you a PM (most likely after the show tonight) to help you figure out what is going on with it. JohnMickish
I have found that if you pop the roof up first it will be tighter than if you pop it up last. Try that, and also make sure that the tent is sitting pretty square with the frame. Let me know if that helps.
MNCPRGUY
I took it down, popped the roof, then the sides, and made sure it was sitting square. Seems a bit tighter. I'm just not sure how much bow should be expected in the roof poles I guess. Will try to upload some pics.
Myrt
is the roof material in constant contact with the poles or are there some spots where there is an open area...closer to the corners...that is what I am finding...haven't reset up yet

Mike Stark
That looks like what was happening with my insulated eskimo fatfish last winter. They sent me a different sized pole. It helped a little but did not solve the issue. I would call Clam.
Brad B
you can see the sag in it. there is something going on with it. talk to Matt and he will help you figure out what is going on with it. he is a good guy and wants to make things right for customers. castmaster
Is it possible its just the propwash from those planes "buzzing your tower"?
mww24
I wonder if the poles have a "spine" like fishing rods do. If they do it could be that the spine is upside down so it snaps downward instead of upward.
Myrt
that is exactly the same as mine...maybe it's normal? I'd rather know instead of finding out in wind or heavy snow...thanks for posting the pic...
Mike Stark
that is exactly the same as mine...maybe it's normal? I'd rather know instead of finding out in wind or heavy snow... thanks for posting the pic... I don't think that is normal. The fatfish I had had the same issue on the side of the shelter and would collapse in with light winds. I ended up returning my Fatfish. Call Clam and try to get it figured out. This is a pic of the fatfish I had.

Brad B
Thanks, I will....believe in the product, things just happen sometimes I forwarded this whole thread to Matt Johnson at Clam. he will hopefully come on here or PM both of you that are having issues and will work with you to figure out what is going on. he told me today(talked to him at the blaine show) he wants Clam customers to be happy with the products and he will take care of any issues for you. He is a good guy to work with.
Matt Johnson
Are you pulling out the bottoms all the way? I would try pulling out all the bottom skirting as far as you can as well, that can sometimes help. Otherwise contact our customer service right away and we'll get it fixed immediately... [email protected]This is first issue we've seen with the XL4000T... it's been a dynamite shelter for us so far and we've already received excellent reviews from anglers in Colorado and Canada who have already put them to the test!I'm sure whatever is going on is minor and we'll make sure you get taken care of ASAP...Thanks! doomanmxz99
I had the same problem with my Fatfish---- The pole is to long. I just cut mine down 1/4in at a time untill it was right. Made all the difference in the world
jbird68
It looks to me like the pole that goes to the center Is not popped out all the way. I have a quick fish 2 and my poles all bend out. Yours looks like a flattened out "S". Can you push it up at all closest to the side poles?
DTro
I was very curious, so I just went out and put mine up. No sagging at all, but the few times I have put it up I notice I always have to square it up a bit to make things tight. Also, I have always popped the top first, then the sides.on a side note, all this messing around and I'm getting pretty quick at the process. mww24
Good luck getting it resolved. Clam took care of me very quickly and properly with a couple of broken hubs. Id bet you'll be resolved before ice.
OnAFly
I just got mine this weekend. Sounds Like I've got something to do tomorrow after work I'm excited to get that thing out on the ice. I plan on spending a night or two on Mille Lacs this winter
Myrt
I reset mine up on my storage unit floor and it seemed better...then turned it a little and it seemed saggy and off balance again, I stood inside while my Dad went around and pulled out the flaps and then it seemed fine again, I think mine is fine, just wasn't used to setting one up, and pulling those flaps out all the way I feel was the problem. Thanks for the feedback Matt!
MNCPRGUY
I just want to post a follow-up to my original question. The Clam guys took care of it. Their customer service is top notch! Matt and Smitty went out of their way to make it right. Thanks guys!
