Otter Lodge Seating

I recently sold my old Otter Lodge and have upgraded to the new Otter Lodge XT900 thermal. My old lodge had the seats that had the adjustable bracket that went from one side of the eled to the other. The new one has the plastic seat bases with the long bar running the length of the sled. I like the openess of the new design but feel like I'm sitting alot higher. If anyone else has experience with the new style does it feel high to you. I like feeling a little bit lower just because your that much closer to the ice and your holes. Do you like the new style is what I am asking? I can go back to the old bracket for about $50(2-brackets).

The proper way to sit is to have your legs at a greater than 90% angle. If your butt is below your knees that will constrict bloodflow. That can lead to blood clots and other health concerns. I look at it the same way as those dudes stuck behind a desk complaining about lower back pain. Posture is everything when you are sitting there for hours on end. It might feel weird at first but your back and legs will thank you for letting the blood flow freely.

I think the otter seats in the pro lodge are a bit too high also, my buddy was over the other day hanging out in the garage and when he sat down in my lodge, his feet were dangling. He isn't very tall, I believe he is 5'8". The seat setup of the pro cottage is noticeably lower and more comfy IMO.

The last 2 years the Otters come with metal seat bases that have you sitting lower. The old plastic bases were higher. If you dont have the metal seat bases and have the plastic ones call Otter and get the metal ones. You will notice the difference right away.

Oh and Ill take your old plastic seat bases. Im 6'6" and love the taller bases.

Do the plastic bases on the new lodge push down on the tent skirting when locked in place? Can see that being a problem of having the skirting unhook everytime you push the seat down into place. Making me think more about the aluminum adjustable brackets.

No, there aren't any issues with the seat pushing on the skirting.

I may be overthinking this but when I mount the seats per instructions it seems like they are leaning forward. It's almost as the seat rail is too high. It seems like it would be hard on your back after being in these seats for a day on the ice.

I decided to go with the older style aluminum seat brackets sepaerate for each seat. If anyone is looking for a new seat rail with the plastic seat pedastals let me know. Would let go for $50. No swivels or seats. Barnesville, MN phone 7zero1799two58four
