I'm sure you have all heard this over and over, but I still feel like it needs to be repeated. Make sure you know what you are shooting at this weekend. It'll be 6 years ago that I lost a good friend because someone in his own hunting party "heard a deer in the thicket" and fired off 2 shots. The second shot ended up hitting Brandon and killed him instantly. Deer hunting was his passion.

Just be safe and have fun this weekend! Post pictures of you're deer. But identify what you're shooting at...no one should be killed doing what they love

Thanks for the reminder walleye king. Brandon would have been very close to the age of my oldest boy. That would devastate me. I didn't realize people still shot at sound (of all things) to shoot anything. Very sad and ignorant on the shooters part. Sorry for your loss and thank you again for posting this.

Those that shoot semi- auto, please don't empty the clip if you miss first shot and spray the woods or field with lead. Nothing worse than hearing bullets whissing around!!!!!

I hear that at least once every time I'm in the woods. One shot followed by a short pause and then bang, bang, bang. Thankfully I haven't been close enough to hear the whizzing of bullets yet.

The other thing that I'm not a fan of is guys shooting at running deer. There is no way to aim at the deer and also recognize what is in front off and behind the target since its always changing.

When I first read this it brought me back immediately to 2 episodes, 1 some guy starts blasting at a deer I'm stalking in a standing cornfield and those bullets were way too close, the farmer said you are the only 1 with permission but that doesn't stop some people from cranking away before dark because they can sneak about then and get the deer out of there, the 2nd was a drive I was standing and the 1 driver starts shooting, 1 bullet missed my dads head and mine by inches, very scary, be very safe, never load your weapon until you may actually need it and unload it as soon as you don't need it, be careful as many of us will be no place near a hospital or an ambulance, be safe everyone.
