Just looked at the Duck landers web site, calls look great, and they also offer a sound on each call page, but the price is high compared to my Buck Gardener call. Looked up the Buck web site and you can have a call customized for less than a landers call, just saying. Already have a new x-mas gift for son.

I got a goose call from Big Sean at gamefair and it sounds great. He has a good duck call too. Local out of Stillwater. I bought a Buck G call a couple years ago and just gave it to my kids to play with. More times than not with these calls you get what you pay for.

The New Zink NBG is a great sounding call with the new "Z" cut technology incorperated in it. The "Z" cut was produced by Fred to help eliminate surface area on the reed that often leads to calls locking up (due to spit build up, getting dunked in the water ect.) During colder weather, I think that this call will be awesome as well! I blow all RNT calls but this call will soon be on my lanyard.

All those calls are fine and dandy, but if you honestly want a call you'll have for a lifetime, look at JJ Lares. He engineers all of his calls to some really tight specifications. He recommends not tuning any of them. All are machined to with interchangable parts, so you can get a few of his calls, and experiment with different reeds (he has a bunch), barrels, etc. I've heard nothing but great things about his stuff, and you know they must be good because you seldom see any for sale. Once people buy them, they keep them.

I'm a little old school but I like OLT calls now known as DJ Illinois Calls, all wood, easy to call with, more raspy than the acrylics and I think they sound more like mallards. Try thr DR 115, about 40 dollars, a great call.

Go on hso classifieds, c list, hsolist or other Waterfowl web sites and get a used Arkansas made jframe single reed duck call if you're serious about calling . I like and reccomend the RNT Original for an all around hunting call. I have a Short barrel that is my top producer and love the Daisy Cutter for a long hard Raspy demanding call but the Original is the most versatile.

If you just want to throw out a greeting call, some quacks, a feeding chuckle and hope they turn or look at your dekes than just get a cheap double reed.

If you want to get serious about calling and working birds get an Arkansas j frame single reed high quality call and commit to becoming good with it and working birds.

I think I found my call. It is a Echo call. Its called a poly timber duck call. its onsale at cabelas online from 50 to 37 dollars. I looked at the reviews and It scored a 4.7 out of 5. There was 53 ratings and 41 of them were 5 stars. It sounds like a pretty good call for the money. I just wish I could try it out.

I have a Lares hybrid, RNT microhen, and Echo diamondwood/poly timber.

I still find myself grabbing for the echo when they are upclose

also I have a duck commander mallard drake call in my blind bag (deadly as on singles )some times just one or two notes when they pass is all it takes. but I dont keep it on my lanyard cause its noisey.
