Good time to test start your auger

I was out milling around in the garage and I saw my augers looking at me. So I decided to fire them up and see how they ran. They fired up after a few pulls and ran fine. Over the years I have found that augers seem to initially start better in warmer weather and once you get them running for the first time of the season and some gas run threw them they are usually good for the season. If they dont start it is a lot easier to work on them when its still warm out or get it in for repairs before everyone else finds out theirs doesnt run either and the shop gets backed up.

Also good time to check and charge your locator batteries.

I usually don't test start my electric auger. It seems to always start just fine! Sorry, I couldn't resist grin I have already put new line on my rods, I can't stand waiting for ice, especially once rifle and muzzleloader deer season is over.

Yeah, while working on refurbishing the frame on my fish house my auger was staring at me too. I usually wait to put line on the rods and get everything ready until after deer season. I will try out the generator and auger in the next few weeks though. Thanks for the reminder.

I was in the garage and had the same situation pulled the auger over 4 times and it took off and ran great. Two years I waited and ended up tracking down a carb kit when I should have been out fishing. Can't wait for some ice now!
