The writing has been on the wall since Penske announced they were switching to Ford next year, but today Dodge made it official: They won't be in NASCAR after this season.

Dodge has to be pretty disappointed after all the work they did getting the new cars designed for both series, not to mention that they were getting a fair amount of good finishes with Keselowski.

A Dodge finished 2nd in both races at Watkins Glen this weekend and Hornish had respectable finishes as well. That has to rub salt in the wounds of the folks at Dodge. I'm not sure how Dodge will ever get back into the sport now short of fully sponsoring a race team. It's too bad.

Dodge was forced to shut down their racing operation after Penske decided to switch to Ford. Dodge didn't quit due to money, in fact they probably spent a boat load developing the new Cup car prior to finding out they had no teams that were going to use it.
