BB/Pellet gun?

really? it's not a firearm. strange lol

I believe it is considered a firearm in the law books (even without the fire portion).

There are definitions and such in the statutes for a BB gun (.18" or less, plus some more stuff), but I couldn't locate any specific info on vehicles and BB guns.

So, just guessing at this point that it's not legal.

Definition of firearm:

Quote:
"Firearm” means a gun that discharges a projectile or shot by

means of an explosive, a gas, or compressed air.

I'm pretty sure that MN state laws consider BB and pellet guns to be "firearms".

Transporting firearms in a vehicle:

Quote:
No person may transport a firearm in a motor vehicle unless

the firearm is unloaded and in a closed gun case, or is

unloaded and in the closed trunk of the motor vehicle.

These requirements do not apply to pistols carried in

compliance with the carry permit requirements of the Gun

Control Act nor to disabled persons who transport the

firearm for hunting purposes in compliance with the game

and fish laws

Minn. Stat. 97A.015

Subd. 19.Firearm.

"Firearm" means a gun that discharges shot or a projectile by means of an explosive, a gas, or compressed air.

BB guns have been held to be firearms in a number of Supreme Court cases both in instances where the device was used illegally and where a person that was prohibited from possessing a firearm had a BB gun in his possession.
