NUISANCE CROW!

DANR

Question

We have had a crow problem this summer at our cabin. It sits on the window ledges and pecks at the glass. You can imagine what the deck below looks like if we haven't been there for a couple weeks. We have tried putting a scarecrow in the window, stickers to break up the reflection, but no success. Any suggestions??? (it doesn't come around any more while we are there, so a shotgun isn't an option)

Thanks

Dan

Thanks for the suggestions guys. A couple of the windows are WAY up high on the outside, so we're going to try to put something inside first. My wife is up there now and plans to tape CD's on the inside of the glass. Hopefully that will break up the reflection - we'll see. I will not be building it a vending machine though CAMAN!

I pasted one that was killing a quail in my back yard. My wife stopped me the first time i got my bow out with a field tip. She was out when the darn thing did it again so snuck the bow and shot throw the screen of the slider. Got rid of the bird but wife saw the hole in the screen. Needless to say no longer allowed to shoot throw the door.

I would not recommend the CD's or anything shiny...crows love shiny things. Things that crows DON'T like are noise or things that disrupt their routines or habitats. Any moving object, they will observe from a distance, and they learn real fast if it's an inanimaye object...as in fake owls, etc. Other than blasting at it, the only thing I have seen work are recordings of a predator (such s a hawk), played from hidden speakers. Good luck! wink
