Slaw for fish tacos

Recommended Posts

Here is a mix that may do it: double the recipe if needed.

Cilantro Coleslaw

1/4 to 1/3 head green cabbage

2 tabls chopped fresh cilantro

1 bunch green onions sliced and minced

1 tsp chopped jalapenos or 1 tsp serrano chillis, to taste

1 tbls mayo

1 tbls fresh lime juice

1/2 tsp cuminseeds or 1/4 tsp gr. cumin

salt and pepper to taste

shred the cabbage. combine the rest of the ingrediants and let set for a couple of hours to blend flavors before adding to tacos. good luck.

I do a simple one for both fish and 7bone steak (la fugta).

Head cabbage

salt

pepper

lime juice

lemon juice

diced onion

let it sit in refrig for few hours before serving. use corn tortilla, put in hot pan for few seconds flip put on meat and slaw, done.

Since it is an Asian-Mex fusion, I usually have the slaw as the asian influence and use just a little rice wine vinegar, fish sauce, sesame oil, and chile paste if you want a little spice.....almost kimchish...

For measurements in the order listed: Glug....glug, about a 6 inch lift, little squirt, and tip of fork smile

I use freshly grated green Cabbage and a little onion. we drizzle ranch dressing on ours along with fresh salsa, cilantro and the fish. No cheese. Fresh lime wedge.

Ditto on just simple shredded cabbage with a light sauce added when assembling tacos. Take some mayo (not miracle whip!) And add lime juice to taste. Then you can add milk if you want it thinner. I like mine pretty limey so no milk needed. Salsa, shredded cheddar, lime mayo sauce, fresh fried fish, and warm soft tortillas are heavenly.

Red cabbage shredded

Balsamic vinegar

Olive oil

Can of black beans

Cilantro finely chopped

Cayenne or whatever you like for heat

Freshly squeezed lemon juice

Sea salt to taste

Thanks for the other ideas! I am going to try them.
