Woodchuck aka Ground Hog

Recommended Posts

It appears there is a Ground Hog living under my neighbors shed. He's looks to be about 20-24inches long. I read that they eat garden vegetables and all of our gardens are in the back not far from this shed. Will this thing be a nuisance (ala should I shoot it if I can) or just let him be? I checked it out with another neighbor and there apears to be numerous entry spots so trapping could be a challenge.

Or "Chuuuddddummmm" as Josh said. They can make a real mess of things in short order as the "numerous holes" suggest. They are a fairly tough critter, if you can get close enough to use a shotgun with deuces or BB, that would be my first choice.

or the coyote rifle.... I have also had good luck with the .17HMR... I got 6 one night while mowing lawn at a property my family has now bought... they make a mess out of a lot of things, including crawling into drain pipes, culverts, burrowing into garages and out buildings... The ones around this property are getting pretty cagy now, but, if you can make a longer shot, mine have been very easy to pattern, everyday when the suns high after lunch, they are out... and when you shoot at them, the others usually show back up within an hour....

Or put on some old school camo and while talking out of the side of your mouth make a groundhog shaped replica out of plastic explosives and drop it down the hole under the shed and run like heck. I saw someone do that on gophers one time and it really seemed to work well!

Got this one and another one Wednesday. They moved in under my back shed last week and ate all my cauliflower, beans, peas. Dug under my garden fence... Destructive critters. Coni-bear did the trick.full-5079-22006-woodchuck.jpg
