Saw my first fawn last night

Recommended Posts

Sitting on the deck last night, pair of binoculars in hand, watching the birds, saw a couple of duck broods, then saw a doe walking along the edge of one of my food plots, she kind of circled around, then went into the deeper grass, she was standing there, humped back, bending her head around, I'm sure the fawn was nursing, pretty soon she came walking along, little guy struggling to hop thru the knee high grass. She led it off about 30 yards and then it laid down in the grass. She fed around that area for the next hour, never more than 60 yards away from the fawn.

Neat to watch. Beautiful evening last night!!

I saw my first fawn of the year this morning on the bank of a trout stream in Fillmore County--I had a pretty good view of him:

On the way back to Harmony I saw two more following a doe in a hay field. I haven't seen a set of triplets in years, but with the mild winter this may be the year I see a group of three with a doe again.
