i'm going to do it. just need the rain to quit. I had mine break on mille lacs. It sucks trying to tie a knot under the minkota when every 3rd wave is washing over the deck.

what are you using to connect it to the trolling motor?

I have a motorguide and it is a bear to get at the actual not connecting it to the trolling motor. we are always doing a uni-knot to get the two lines to connect.

great idea

Very nice!

It's amazing with all the advancements in trolling motor technology, that companies still use thin, rotting nylon ropes for a pull cord.

You should send that pic to Minn Kota and Motorguide smile

The bulk stuff at Home depot that you can buy by the foot is not the same stuff. This stuff is a lot more pliable. When connecting it to the trolling motor I first put a washer on and then tie a knot. I then use 2 pairs of pliers to pull the knot tight and then wrap it tight with electrical tape. I also used the existing minnkota handle as shown in the picture.
